Is 8GB really worth over the 6GB?

Majority will not see a difference at all especially with no general apps specifically dedicated to the Note 9
Facebook and Instagram will run no different folks.
8GB of RAM is overkill

For you is overkill. For others it makes sense.

If they had given both versions 8g of ram, how many 512g models do you think they would have sold, compared to the 128?

Probably a good bit less and the 512gb would most likely be just fine with 6gb of ram, Samsung do like to be first with things though (well all the phone manufacturers do)
So the 512gb had a lot to do with being the first 1tb phone (even if it isn't 100% 1tb after OS space taken) it was also a very easy way to put something out there that stands out from all the others and I'll say it will be the only 1tb phone for at least until S10 comes out and probably a year before any of the others launch one.
I do think they should have thrown in a 512gb card with it though and maybe also 1tb of cloud storage as back up to sweeten the hefty price tag

I went with the 8GB of RAM. 6 would probably be fine, but 8 is future proof.

Yea, but I will buy the Note 10, S10 whichever has the spen so holding on for two years simply isn't an option for me because you know I will want the new device. Sure I would like 8gb ram but I don't need to spend over an extra $200 for it.

IF it was up to me I would have kept the note 9 at around $940 like it was last year for 6b ram and charge $1000 for 8gb, 128gb storage, and $1250 for 8gb ram and 512gb storage.

If there was an 8gb ram option for around $1,000 I would have bought that instead but no way I can spend $1300 when including tax for a phone.

Im on S9+

Thing is, its JOD and i will also jump to S10.

So if i pay $530 down for Note 9 , just to give it back to tmovile in 8 months? 530+ 8 months worth of payments
I'm in the same boat as you, really wanted the 512gb for the 8gigs of RAM, but I'm not paying 740 to lease a phone for 8 months.

For Android function, 8GB vs 6GB is basically superflous. If you use Dex though, it could have advantages.

I ordered the 512gb so can have all of my apps, and music in the main storage. A 256GB version would have been fine, but no option. A lot of games are over 1GB, counting data. If not a gamer, not seeing much reason for the 512gb model. I can use the space now for higher bitrate tunes :)

My SD will be for photos and game roms, since moving tunes to internal.

IMO, they should have offered a 6GB with 256GB internal for $1,100. That said, feedback from two Samsung reps is demand for the 512GB is WAY over their expectations. That said, both were a tad vague on how overall preorders were going.

I haven't held onto a phone for two years in over a decade. I'll keep the Note9 until the Note 10 is released or if that foldable phone is released before then.

The faster memory will come out for the S10. So, that will be another debate all over again. 8gb slower memory or 6gb faster memory?

For as long as you keep a phone 4 is future proof.....????????????

Well people have rocked the Note 4 for 4 years now and many still keep on using it. Just go out and about and you will still see people using it.

It's certainly usable....we can say that about other phones from that time frame as well. I have friends with flip phones too.
The thing is the phone nerds want the latest and greatest.

If you're still using a 4 year old phone and nothing else, you don't really know what you're missing. I have a a Note8 and a Note 4 and the Note 4 is slow as molasses. I would have to think about that people use 4 year old phones by necessity, not by choice.

Power user here. Got the 512 and 8 gigs of RAM. For the extra 250 for the bigger version, it made sense to me. I usually upgrade every yr. That extra storage and RAM may allow me to hold on to it for 2. .. maybe. haha

I don't buy a $1200 phone for Facebook. Facebook is the least used app on my phone, such a waste of time
