AC Question

I had a conversation with my wife the other night about how "quitting smoking cold turkey" is the only way to do it. My phone was close by but it was not a phone conversation.

Today, in my Google News feed, there is an article entitled, "Cold turkey is best way to quit smoking, study says."

Neither of us have touched search since we had the conversation or would have a reason to search that term, neither of us are smokers.

This has happened three times in the last month. I'm going to start documenting it.

But does anyone know if Google has any patents on this kind of general conversation eavesdropping -- where Google can use the phone mic to record general conversation that it can parse for keywords it would use to serve ads?

It's not creepy, it's just distracting to be constantly reminded of something that doesn't have any relevance to us at all. If it's used, it should be built better.
