Is anyone able to use their AT&T Note 5's Mobile hotspot and tethering option? I can't seem to get this to work.

These are the things I've done/tried:

- Called AT&T and had them update the IMEI and made sure everything was set up in their system for mobile hotspot.
- When I removed my sim card from the Note 5 and put it in my S6 the hotspot works on the S6.
- Checked settings ( broadcast channel is set to 2.4 GHz, auto)

Love this phone BTW...

Appreciate any help...

Is there any indication in the status bar that the hotspot is even on when you toggle it on? Does it turn on, but it just doesn't get detected anywhere? You've already set it up with an SSID name and a password?

Notification in status bar says "Tethering or hotspot active.tap to set up". When I tap it it takes me to the settings>mobile hotspot and tethering option on the phone. I didn't do anything except change the password. I've never had to set up a phone with an SSID to get this option to work. Is the Note 5 different?

I'm not sure exactly what it looks like on the Note 5, but in general, when you set up a hotspot, it should give you a dialog box that allows you to name the network, choose the security (e.g., WPA2-PSK), and select a password. There may also be an option to disable the hotspot when there's no activity.

I selected WPA2-PSK and changed the password from the default password to my own password. Darn it! Im thinking that I may have to exchange the phone.

Yeah Double. I get that icon on my S6 when I remove my sim from the Note 5 and put it in my S6 but the note is not working for some reason....same settings under mobile hotspot options as S6 too...don't know what's going on here but I'll post back after I get a chance to try Diddy's recommendation and maybe the dreaded "hard reset"...

re:

Okay...Duh..all I had to do was select "allow ALL devices to connect" instead of "ALLOWED devices only" under the mobile hotspot settings...I thought this would open up the connection and allow any device to connect WITHOUT a password but I was wrong. All set and working now...whew!! Thanks you guys!!!

Hehe. Glad you got it working. Sometimes it is the simplest problems
