Is HTC Sense (3.5 or 4.0) going to ruin the ICS experience?

I love how people love to bash other OEM skins lol. That would be like me saying Moto blur is garbage when I haven't owned a Moto Android device it's silly
Sense would only ruin asop if your foolish enough to think so, I personally like sense. And for those who talk trash about any factory UI over plain Android they are usually basing an opinion on ignorance.

So we have a code expert here, Everyone WANDA will vouch for all rooted applications LOL,

Nope, not a code expert..far from it...I'm just not coo-coo for Cocoa-Puffs

called open your mind to the what ifs, no paranoia just an after thought.

The only thing you called to my mind to was the fact that perhaps you need to open a window and take a breath of fresh air (with all due respect) if you truly believe the NFL mobile app, Vcast, VZNavigator, or Vanything for that matter are any sort of protection.

Do we not have some sort of antivirus protection on our PC's, if malicious attacks are so frivolous than remove that protection.

No don't because I don't own a PC. I have been *gasp!* a Mac user for the past 6 years and I don't plan on going back any time soon.

An again, glad to see you found the italic function.

You do realize that quite a number of people who are critical of some of the OEM skins have actually used them?

I have owned an Incredible as well as the Thunderbolt. I have also owned a Droid Charge. I have owned a Motorola Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Bionic and Xoom. I have used and experienced each of these skins. For me, the pure ICS is the only way to go.

I have nothing against manufacturer overlays, but stock ICS is a much better experience, especially from a visual standpoint - but that's obviously just my opinion. Those and grey and green gradients can just be gaudy at times.

Anyway, I'm running a (near) stock ICS ROM on my Rezound right now. It's great.

Ad homeneim agrument there -

The point of the OP is to state the obvious - ICS for the rezound thus far = sorta worthless.

As a proud rezound owner, this looks identical to what I already have. Why should I even bother. I am more interested in AOSP builds that actually function. I love how all the roms for the rezound on XDA say 'FULLY FUNCTIONAL' then when you open the thread you see 'What doesnt work - phone, sms, exchange etc...' LOL

Yeah, that can be both annoying & amusing but, maybe, I'm alone on this. I actually like that fact. As time passes, it's a nice gauge to weed through, to discover which devs I'll take heed of. If they actually have something that backs up the advertising ruse, something beyond early beta, I'll jump on it w/ a bit more confidence. I know to steer clear of those who have a loose definition of what fully functional means.

I thought the Xoom was stock Honeycomb... Which is basically what ICS is...when you look at it. ICS is an updated version of Honeycomb.

And to be honest....most ppl critical of OEM skins are just repeating what they hear in forums, or get it going in looking for whats wrong, instead of whats right. The Rezound is my first Sense UI phone...and its real nice. I can see what some ppl dont like about it, but to be honest....most folks add on 3rd party apps to reproduce some of the Sense UI look. Some ppl add stuff from Touchwiz and Blur too, even in custom ROMs.

ICS isnt perfect, stock Android isnt perfect. Thats one reason why so many ppl love Sense UI, for what it adds to stock Android.

Xoom just updated to ICS. To me, Honeycomb was a buggy, unfinished version of ICS.

I dont think he is bashing the work that was put into the ROM but more so dissapopinted at what the ROM actually is.

And I can understand that... I was hoping for Sense 4.0 too! I would love it if it exists. I buoght my rezound based on its hardware alone and it's already very fast and powerful right-out-the-box so i'm not in any hurry to get ics on it. I can wait.

But right now I would not make a buying desion based on a leaked ROM. Take it for what it is... ITs an early concept from HTC that I made usable. The same thing on the sensation, its identical. I think this is going to be close to what we see. But I cannot tell you that for fact until we have the final product. Whe the final product is out then we will know what it is :-\

But for now... Rezound owners... ENJOY! You can have your Ice Cream Sandwich and eat it too!

ICS is an updated version of both Honeycomb and Gingerbread. Honeycomb was never intended to be used on phones.

Nobody ever said ICS is perfect. So you are leading from a false assumption. If you'll notice, I specifically stated which devices I have used over the past couple of years. You should also note, that I never said that ICS is perfect. I also stated that I do not like Sense, Blur, or Touchwhiz.

Yea...I was mentioning Honeycomb cuz you called it a skin. And lets be real...look at Honeycomb, GB and ICS. It ...looks...more like Honeycomb than GB. Thats why I said when you look at it.

The ICS isnt perfect isnt meant for you, just saying that in general, since some ppl think Sense UI will ruin ICS.

If someone thinks it will ruin ICS, isnt that saying ICS is better without Sense UI? Up until this point all the UI's have added to the stock Android experience, made it better. .I know its hard for some ppl to believe...but they have. T9 dialer? Sense UI..Toggles in the pull down shade? Touchwiz. Re sizable widgets? Blur. I cant see now all of a sudden the experience gets worse. If it does...Google needs to step in and force stock ICS on all devices.

And just like with stock Android, if its something you want better on it, you can add it from the Market, just like a phone with a custom UI. Preferring stock Android is fine, to say Sense UI will ruin it...I cant see that.

Until then...I dont think anyone can really say Sense UI will ruin the ICS experience. And I still dont know what ppl hate about the different OEM skins so much besides delays in updates. Want better screen scrolling? Add a launcher. After that...whats the other complaints?

I think u got it all wrong.. Most people that are in a forum like this have been around the bush a few times. Some in here switch phones like a high school guy switches girlfriends.. Im one of um.. lol

The only reason I haven't rooted this phone is because I spent a lot of time trying to make every new ROM look and feel like sense. I never seen a dramatic enough improvement to warrant switching. For the most part it came down to a slight to mild increase in speeds and battery life. For those who don't like the look or feel of sense by all means change and enjoy that's the beauty of our phones. But by no means does sense ruin anything.

I thought I saw somewhere that the rezound on ics will have sense 3.6, or that for another htc device?

In my eyes, it would have to be a different device, a lesser device at that. I'm wondering if your talking about Android 2.3.6, the last official GB release. (Which is now prepped for the update on the Moto Razr from 2.3.4) Are you sure you didn't misread that, regarding a different phone? If not, that is likely just based on speculation b/c I believe all HTC has indicated, thus far, has been 2 options, since ICS was unpacked. They were either going to utilize a new full bore version of Sense 4.0 w/ ICS. In the early going, they also indicated they might scale back, the Sense UI w/ 4.0 and have a more stock ICS user experience. I assume you just read about a potential OEM update. What devs are doing on the Sense/ICS roms in circulation are entirely different.

I'm not sure why people bash sense.Coming from an omnia to an incredible was awsome and now the rezound is even better.I don't root or anything and I know sense slows things down a bit but I like having a device ready to go out of the box.I might not accept ics when it is pushed out because this phone is awsome as it is.

Its bashed because its bloated, and hasn't really kept up with a lot of the updated user paradigms like resizable widgets, less chrome, and less eye-candy.

I haven't used a nexus to extent besides in the store but I feel that sense adds many features that android lacks....I might root and Rom my old dinc to see what is better
