Is it me or does the Google keyboard suck?

Really happy with the switch to Android and loving the moto x but the keyboard absolutely blows. The keyboard on the iPhone 4 was way better. Am I the only one that thinks this? I can't type words accurately.

Is there another keyboard in the app store that's easier to type on?

I happen to really like the Google keyboard. The swipe function is very accurate from my experience

I'm using a modified version of Google keyboard called jelly bean 4.3

Look into these keyboards,

Swiftkey
Swype

I'll agree the apple keyboard was fairly decent in its auto correction. I think you'll find swiftkey meets your needs. I base keyboard functionality off swipe ability not typing.

+1 on SwiftKey, I love it. They have a trial version that will allow you to use the full version of the keyboard for a week before making you purchase it, and I can guarantee you, it's well worth the money.

How long have you been using the X?

The iPhone failboard with the punctuation being on a different screen, vs a keyboard that has numbers and punctuation on one screen? Yeah. No.

Did iPhone offer the swype feature? Cause I can't live without that

I don't think a swyping feature interests me much

Try SwiftKey. It has a swype like option, or if you don't want to use that, it has the regular predictive keyboard. It is 100 times better than the stock Google keyboard.

*so* bad. lol. The Moto X is my first soft keyboard phone, i got swiftkey right away cuz it was on sale and i heard so much about it, very good, then tried google keyboard just yesterday...dear lord.

I just downloaded the trial and it's light years ahead of the Google keyboard. Can't understand how the Google keyboard is so inaccurate. One thing that worried me is that there is a warning when I download it that says SwiftKey can store all your personal typing data such as passwords.

I've used Swype for years. It the best swipe type keyboard available.

Did you change the prediction in the settings? I love the Google keyboard but the most popular one is definitely swift key

Yup I've been using SwiftKey keyboard for over 18 months it's the best one out there! It only gets better with every update! I saved so much time typing because the prediction of my next word is always spot on! You only need to hit 3 characters if it's a long word. But for the most part it sort of predicted what you will be typing for the next word once you finish the current one! It understand the language and add new words you'll be using like names and acronyms! I've tried others like AI and Smart keyboard and they're so off the trail I got rid of them! I would recommend using SwiftKey keyboard to anyone who's looking for an alternative to the stock android keyboard or any other ones that are free or for sale in the Google Play Apps Store

I dont have an issue with the stock keyboard.I have word Auto-corrections turned off.I leave Show correction suggestions turned on tho.Having used Swype leave that turned on as well but dont always use it.I have used SwiftKey in the past and know of that warning ya get .I dont think its nothing to worry about .
I just try to use the stock messaging stuff that comes on the phone before I go to 3rd party apps thats not to say I wont ever switch but just saying.
I dont use gmail for instance on my phone(sync for it is off).

There's a huge problem with swype, at least for me. Swype does use Google Voice to Text, it uses Dragon. It's absolutely horrible compared to Google and I refuse to use it. so I am stuck using SwiftKey, which is good, but not near as good as Swype.

my problem with google keyboard is that i'm always hitting the wrong letters, it's so inaccurate. i thought coming from a 3.5" screen to a 4.7" screen would make it so much easier to type. the google keyboard is garbage.

For the Google keyboard you need to turn on aggressive or very aggressive for predictions, otherwise it is very poor with predictions. Re SwiftKey. the predictions are epic and it learns quickly the more you use it.
