Is it stupid to have two of the same phone?

As the old saying goes, what a difference a year makes.

I went from calling Google's Pixel 6 Pro the WORST phone I've ever owned to having two 7 Pro's.

I ported and took advantage of my carriers boxing week deal which ended last week.

Too bad they only have Obsidian (love the names they use) 128GB.

Clearly I love it.

*I need help.

I wouldn't personally have 2 of the same phone but i dont see it any different from having 2 phones if they were different ones .

I would personally not want two of the exact phone. I would probably get a 7 and a 7 Pro and alternate but two 7 Pro if they were the same color as well would be a little boring but as a backup phone might be nice to have. Also you could use one a bit more daring and keep the other for when the first gets banged up.

If you got a really good deal it might be a good idea to keep one in the box sealed and then when the 8 is about to be announced you could sell the one in box as new and trade in your other Pro 7 and it would pay for your upgrade?

It depends... if you have an actual good reason then no... if you just have 2 of the same phone because you would rather give Google your money than keep it or spend it on something else, then yeah, that's pretty stupid in my opinion.

But it's your money, you do you.

These will definitely be sold in the not too distant future.

I'm already thinking about selling my Samsung Z Flip4 to my colleague at work.

I know it's stupid just wanted to post it.

I also like buying stuff a lot of people would think is stupid though lol. My thought has always been if you can afford it and want it, then do it.

Tell me about it, recently spent$1000 on a video card.

It's definitely not stupid! One of my goals is to have two devices one day that I can wield at a whim.

Comment moved to the “Two Devices” thread, where it should have been in the first place.

If you like the phone, and would hate to change or "upgrade," then having an exact backup is not a bad idea. Something happens to your primary phone like a broken screen or just a general failure, take out the backup phone, plug it in, restore from backup file, and you're up and running.

The danger is having an older phone as carriers upgrade their networks. 3G is all but gone in the U.S. 4G is falling by the wayside. Now it's all about 5G and all its iterations. By the time we have 6G who knows what fate will befall 4G?

I can't do that. Just not worth the cash to me. I've gotten old lol.
