Its just half of year since the epic came out. Do you think I should I even get the phone? It is a really nice phone and there are quite a lot of problems with it. but I am still willing to buy it. OR do you think I should wait for the next gen phones?

Note: I get a full 150 dollars credit in november. So prob by then the epic will drop in price and newer phones will be out.

thank you.

At this time I say wait and if you do decide to buy it I suggest you get it via Craigslist or eBay. Keep your credit for something else you never know as by Nov Epic will look like ancient as we step in the dual core game.

wats a good price for a new or used epic 4g?

New like $300 and used like $200-250. I say you go in CL and post buying thread and have the seller contact you. When they contact you ask for the price and when they make an offer lol say like $25-50 below someone has already offered you and makeup a story they are selling it in 48hours and you can't wait any longer as you lost your phone or something so if this person can price match it then you will buy it ASAP cash.

What are all these problems your speaking of??? I've had the phone since it's release and haven't had any problems with it.

If you want a new phone for the sake of getting a new phone, then wait. If you're in need of a phone, then go for it. If you want/need Skype, then get another phone. EPIC 4G does not support Skype (yet).

LOL I am sure you don't want a phone for that now do you lol that would be silly, as me and coolqf suggested do it if you need it now but if you want something better then wait as new phones are coming out.

idk what to do.. i can get a epic new for 350.

Look around you can get it for 300, make post on CL and have them contact you.

Question is how bad do you want it lol $25 is nothing tell them to come and give it to you in 30min and you will take it.

Go with it. You won't be sorry. You can buy extended life batteries, there will be updates for this phone soon. Also you can root it and put whatever ROM you want on it.

the OP doesn't strike me as someone with enough saavy to root and flash custum roms.

Bottom line: Epic is a kicka$$ top of the line phone, but something newer and shinier will ALWAYS be right around the corner.

i agree.......i would wait if you can hold out....at least wait until the conference that sprint is holding and see if anything gets announced there.....i thnk its this week or next week...i could be wrong though

The Epic in a nutshell is beautiful, high end hardware slowed down by subpar, amateurish software. Dual core aside, the specs in the Epic will still be considered high end for at least another six months, as Android apps won't even be written to take advantage of dual core for some time. This is a classic case of hardware outstripping software available for it to run.

IMO only get the epic if you're willing to dig in, root and install some custom software. All of the phone's problems - yes, including battery life and GPS - can be fixed, but you need to be willing to fix it yourself.

Don't sneeze at the concept of media player as a sole use case for this device. The SAMOLED screen is *amazing* for watching video, far surpassing anything that I've ever seen (short of my 50" Pioneer plasma). :)

Samsung is actually supposed to be releasing a PMP version of the Galaxy S with WiFi only specifically for that. Might wait for that so it's cheaper and no monthly payments. :)
