Is it worth upgrading to the S9 from the S8? Or just a spec bump?

I'm having a hard time justifying replacing my S7 with one, I'm tempted to just replace my battery.

Yup, exactly this, and it's been like that for quite some time now. Phones have been great for some time now, with the exception of some persisting issues like faster software updates across the board, and even midrange phones are more than capable. Just like most people mentioned already it's really the camera, right placement of the finger print scanner, and the stereo speakers.

True that it "seems" like you don't need an upgrade year after year. We are at a point where upgrades should be meaningful and justified : I don't just upgrade because there's a new gadget in town, I upgrade because there is something in particular that I would like to include in my day-to-day life and work that I think should be beneficial. It could be the stereo speakers, it could be that you want the best camera or the design, or the expandable storage, headphone jack and so on. I feel like this phone is complete. It has everything à phone can have cause before the only thing missing was stereo speakers and telephoto lens... Now it's just perfect.

I agree that's kinda why I'm confused If I should sell my note and get the s9+

I think that it's not worth upgrading to the S9 from the S8, as the latter is still a great and capable phone which is just a little worse than its successor. The evolution in the S series is definitely fine, but it is not a big thing in comparison between the newest and the former flagship phones.

I think its not only the specs bump, new phones/model of the S Series offers new features.

IMO - I had S8 for sometime but for upgrade - S9 doesn't have considerable changes compared to s8 except emoji, camera & improved display..if you are not gadget freaky ..hold on..wait.. use S8 at most..it does have excellent features use them & then upgrade ..choice is urs but I am not gone do soon..lol

Not worth it unless you really want the dual camera on the S9+. I honestly like the placement of the fingerprint scanner on my S8.

If I were coming from an S8, I would probably wait for something else; but it depends on how much you value incremental changes. Some people want those small performance boosts.

For me, coming from an S7Edge, the change is bigger ... so seriously considering the S9+. Although, debating if I am going to hold off for the Note9 when it launches.

I have a Note 8. Which I got because the screen on the iPhone X wasn't big enough. I will not go for the S9. I will look at the Note 9. Though i also may get the iPhone X Plus or whatever they call it. I am just not crazy about the Samsung UI. My wife loves evrything about her Note 8. Cannot wait for the fall phone announcements...

I currently have a Galaxy S6 and was seriously considering going to the S8 by the end of last year, should I wait a little more until the first reviews are in and maybe go for the S9/S9+?

Is it really worth getting the S9 series over the S8 one given the price difference?

Well it's worth the upgrade if you have a passion for mobile photography like myself, but overall its the same thing from the inside and outside as well, but still, there is a way you can upgrade to s9 for less than 70 percent of the original price, sell your old s8 and add few 100s$ instead of $800, you will easily upgrade to s9 for less than $600
