Is it worth upgrading to the S9 from the S8? Or just a spec bump?

The only reason to do yearly upgrades in my book is if you are on a yearly upgrade plan from a carrier. If not, don't bother.

I don't think its woryh upgrading from an S8, not even from an S7. The S10/X is going to be released next year that should be THE upgrade to get.

I don't care about the processor. The only upgrade would be stereo speakers and variable aperture, I guess but still worth it.

Once Samsung stopped using the faster SoC for the Note and made the battery noticably smaller than the S line, the Note stopped being really compelling. You can get 95% of Note features in the Sx+ model. If Samsung returned to bigger battery, refreshed SoC and Pen, that would renew interest. As it stands, Samsung is purposefully letting the Note line whither on the vine.

i don't think samsung would let the Note line wither. the S-Pen is a big enough differentiator from other phones that in itself occupies a unique place in the market., samsung wouldn't be too smart to give something like that up. i do think samsung has gotten little too careful when it comes to the note line ever since the battery fiasco.

I have S8+ and N8 and they are very different. The 2GB helps, use of pen, less rounding and “edge.”

Not a worthy upgrade but kudos to Samsung for correcting nearly all flaws of the s8.

The only con really is the price, the S9/9+ otherwise are (slightly) better in pretty much every way.

The question as to whether it is worth the upgrade is I think a personal one. I did not go direct from the S8+ to the 9+ and am not sure if I would have, maybe, maybe not. The FPS placement is a pretty compelling reason, it is not perfect but is infinitely better than the S8. The FPS was one of the reasons I got rid of the S8+

Varies from person to person.. i skip a generation before upgrading. For some people money is not an issue & they like to have the latest flagships,, my s8 is fine for now.. I will wait for s10 or note 10 perhaps

For me definitely worth the upgrade. 128gb storage, neat little camera gimmicks. Beautiful pictures, stereo speakers. Oh yes definitely a nice little upgrade. And I'll probably upgrade again next year! I NEED the newest greatest thing lol!

If you have an S8 an upgrade isn't really necessary. Save yourself a few hundred bucks. Anything below an S8 is worth an upgrade.
