Is Sprint losing its signal strength lately?

My area is fine where I live. I don't see a difference locally. But I do a lot of traveling during the week as I work and I rely on my phone to keep me entertained on long drives, and the data coverage is not as good as it used to be. Plus my wife is telling me she called and my phone doesn't even show a missed call. This was never an issue in the past. So should I just stay home and use my phone? Have you seen the revised coverage map? That's like a 50% reduction in coverage.

i recently noticed the difference. if they dont have this resolved come october, then i see an overpriced datacapped verizon plan in my near future. I really hate verizon, you do realize that all of our coverage problems are steaming from verizons greed. you guys really should read through the first few pages on this forum. Sprint Community: Voice and 3G coverage being drastically...
It does not look promising for sprint, i foresee a buyout by verizon which will leave only 2 nationwide carriors free to price jack and datacap as they please.

I do not believe the FCC will allow this happen. I do not believe A&TT will be able to buy Tmobile
either.

just wasted some time on the phone with a srint rep and she is claiming that more towers are scheduled to be added within 119 days. She could not say if it would bring coverage back to how it used to be and that is highly unlikely. but whatever..

Sprint reps know nothing. They are trying to sell a service and a phone from a company that is dying slowly by having bad signal. Sprint invested a lot money on its 4G but it has not invested on its signal. Sprint will see in the near future how a lot of costumers will start leaving Sprint due to its bad coverage of voice and data as well.

Was not always this way tomy I used to have excellent coverage til a few weeks ago. Sprint should not have been so dependent on roaming agreements with other networks and focused more on getting there own towers up.

I don't want t mobile to be purchased by att but I have a bad feeing the deal is likely to go through and with sprint on its way out thanks to verizon. We as consumers are screwed, left to take whatever crappy ass plans att and vzw decide to push on us.

I am going t ride it out for a while. If things dont improve I will have to jump ship. Hopefully they will have a 4g android phone with a keyboard by then. Not a fan of the virtual keyboard fad.

Jersey- I'm having serious signal issues too. I'm getting 100-200 down whereas my wife's evo is getting 500-700 down sitting right next to each other. I used to get much better service as well. But its been horrible for a month or so. I see myself going to vzw as well.

Hello Sprint!!!!. You need to step up in your service, otherwise you will lose more costumers than never before.

Sprint told me changing my wireless network settings to sprint only instead of automatic would fix my signal issue. What a joke. Do you think sprints decreasing coverage is a way out of contract w/o paying etf?

My signal strength in North Georgia has dropped since using my current phone. Installed an Airave which helped in a limited area inside the structure but not outside immediate area. Before new phone I believe Sprint signal strength was not as strong as it had been even though it was never strong at the same location. Signal drops completely out occasionally. Lots of dropped calls and no connects.

I agree with you. What a joke. I think it is the other way around. You have to have your phone on automatic, so your phone will be able to pick whatever signal is around your location. I have my android phone rooted and got an app called Roam Control. This app is great I have signal everywhere.

:D

Happening constantly on my NG4G and my wife and daughter's Epic. According to one Sprint Rep, the many severe storms we had are affecting many customers. One of these storms took down a main tower and are overloading the others. Eith a legit answer or just some BSing to pacify their customers..

I am located in Charlotte NC where is the main tower located that was taken down by the storm. I do not believe this issue is the reason why Sprint sucks more than it used to be.

I've Noticed the same thing. Horrible signal lately. I'm Lucky if I have 2 bars. Sad Really.

make sure all updates are done on the phone, just to be sure. who knows, maybe they're upgrading your area, and its just growing pains.

It may be all in my head, but I feel like I've been having more problems than usual recently as well. I've never had great service on campus but I was usually able to get at least 1-2 bars on 3g. Now I feel like I'm being throttled to 1X more and more often, and in areas where I should have service (like outside).

I am having tons of signal issues on my 3/4G USB air card also. I think Sprints system may have been over sold and now its so overloaded with users there is no longer any bandwidth left.

Being overloaded for bandwidth capacity shouldn't affect signal strength.

I have no problem with signal strength. My problem is with bandwidth.

Same here. I dont travel much, and in Texas the coverage map where i am is the same. But agreed bandwidth is a problem.

Running on the latest SyndicateROM, I find myself being forced into 1X, and 3G during random periods, where 4g doesn't even work. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one having these problems. Could it be the network getting overloaded with the amount of 4G phones on the market now?

I'm having fading signal issues here in NY also. My readings go from -85dbm (about 3 bars) to -105dbm (0 bars). This all happens with my Epic 4g sitting on my desk. Took phone into sprint for repair and got the 'UPDATED PRL" BS. Don't know whats going on, but if sprint doesn't get on the ball soon I will take my business elsewhere. I paid more with AT&T but never had issues like this. Hopefully someone with some "juice" at Sprint will do something about this soon.
