Is the all day battery just overblown?

Definitely the best battery life of any Samsung I've owned; which includes the S7 Edge, Note7, Note8, S9, and now the Note9.

The Note9 lasts me the entire day on one charge, with room to spare most of the time. I almost always had to charge my S9 a second time during the evening.

I criticize brands (including Samsung) when I feel they deserve it (eg. light bleed on some devices). But I think this "all day battery" label is very fair.

I will say it's leaps and bounds better than my S9+, but I could have had a lemon. I had to put it on the charger after 6-8 hours almost every day even after doing all the standard 'stuff' to fix it. On the Note I have gotten up to 19 hours before the 15% warning popped up with my normal usage pattern. What kills it for me is always actual phone calls. If I spend 2 hours on the phone, I'm guaranteed that I'll have to recharge after about 10 hours. Again, much better than my other phones, but still not the space station technology that the media is making it out to be :)

LG uses lcd screens and at 25% you won't use as much power as speed AMOLED on full brightness. It's a trade of. You'll get shot better display at a bit of a battery cost. My note 9 is definately better than the Note 8.

The V30 has a P-OLED screen...

Anytime a phone comes out there is always a thread about bad battery life. usually it's just someone that is not familiar with how Android is works.

My Verizon unlocked N9 so far seems virtually the same as my Verizon S9+. Both good, but not yet seeing the extra 500mah making a difference.

I don't use always on display, so that's not a factor.

every phone will be different battery life even if specs are same...
it all boils down to how u use your phone...how many apps are installed...u have good network in your area or no....I switched from note 8 to S9+ for battery life and now to Note 9 ..love the bigger battery in Note 9....

Today, my second day of usage and actually keeping track and haven't plugged it in I am at 54% after 17 hours of usage. I think I have used my phone a little less than typical and Tues will be my first day when I get to use it a lot. Note 9 with 512GB

As an avid amusement park patron I have struggled with past phones and battery life while visiting. Most have shoddy cell and wifi reception. But so far the N9 has performed well. Spent the past 2 days at a park on their wifi. 12+ hours each day and I'm getting back to my hotel with 60% battery remaining.

I could go 45 minutes on a full charge before it dropped down to 99%, and that was with location on high accuracy periodically, AOD enabled, and screen resolution set to max with 25% brightness indoors.

Which is actually bad for the battery and shortens it's life.

As explained at Battery University, “The time at which the battery stays at [maximum charge] should be as short as possible. Prolonged high voltage promotes corrosion, especially at elevated temperatures.”

The shorter the phone stays at 100%, the better. Starting with the S8, Samsung tweaked their battery handling tech to keep the phone as close to 95% capacity holding over two years, where normal battery handling tech will degrade batteries to approx 75% over the same period. I'd not put it past them to sip battery fast between 100 and 90, then slow down henceafter.

I only use Chrome, Gmail, WhatsApp and occasionally watch a short YouTube video (average I'd say 10 mins a day).

I have no social media accounts installed, disabled Facebook, disabled Bixy, brightness at 30%, don't use the camera more than average 5 photos a day.

I get maximum 16 hrs battery life with 3 hrs screen on time. Tried analyzing with gsam and other battery monitor apps, but there is no app that stands out. Only scree, Android OS en system take up all the battery.

:(

Worst phone ever.

After the first week of new phone tweaking. I am getting a few hours of extra use over my Note 8.

My experience so far is pretty good. Oddly, the standby drain seems worse than I expected, and far worse than my Pixel 2 XL. Conversely, the battery drain during normal use, and heavy use, is less than I expected, which is very nice.

Overall I am pleased with the battery life, but I'd like to see standby battery drain improved. Android P is supposed to help with that, but with TouchWiz, it's hard to know how much benefit we will see once it arrives, if any.
