Is the camera any better?

I dont know. I played with Gcam before and results weren't so great. Better in some cases and worse in others. Like today I took pictures outside and stock cam was much better

I dont like the idea of using 2 different cams for different scenarios

Its better in low light and moving objects. Its not a total fix. Only Samsung can fix it at this point. But it shows its not the hardware. It's software. Will Samsung fix it ? Thats the question

Going by their history, the auto focusing and motion blur issues will be fixed. The skin softening, not so much.

If we're talking about the tendency to (more easily) blur indoor shots with subjects that are not perfectly still like kids, what evidence is there that it will be fixed? Seems to have been an issue for a while with no changes.

Took my most challenging pictures today :) where Note 10 produced trash results every time and Pixel 4 nailed them also every single time. S20 did good, but I also noticed that it boosts colors too much, even more then Note.

No one has made this a big issue on past models. It's all over Reddit with this model, because apparently, it's worse than previous years.

Also, The S10 did improve in every way after multiple updates. I still have my S10, and the camera is fantastic now. Wasn't always the case. And of course, no one has done an updated review of this camera.

As for the S20s, I'm purely speculating so we'll have to wait and see.

People are being dramatic. But that's nothing new.

Funny you say that because wherever I travel and people see me taking photos or takes one of me they always compliment the picture quality and 9/10 they are iPhones users. No lie I had someone with the XS Max tell me I prefer Ssmsungs cameras but I just can't leave my iPhone. Clearly this is a subjective topic that I believe won't change even if the update does address most of the complaints in this thread.

Do far I'm getting better results with the Ultra. Not perfect with motion but not as much softening as I'm used to.

In blind test most people picked Note 10, yet its not that great. You have to use camera every day to understand its shortcomings, and sometimes the difference between Note and Pixel is that with Note photos are not usable.

It's anecdotal, but on these boards alone, I have seen tons of complaints on previous Samsung models about the blur (and continue to see them). I notice a clear difference in using gcam on my Note 10 versus the stock app. This leads me to believe it will not compare to the Pixel (or iPhone) anytime soon on indoor shots of kids (or animals).

If cameras are that important, I recommend people buy a Pixel or iPhone anyway.

I'm definitely going for the next iPhone if they somehow reduce the size of the notch or take it out. I currently still on the S10+.. didn't feel the need to upgrade to S20 ultra.

I don't see the notch going anywhere. You know they recycle their designs for at least 4 years.

We have choices. You can't expect any single OEM to have all the answers. You buy what appeals to you.

I like Samsung's large, beautiful screen and amazing hardware. Their cameras are versatile and great for landscape and still photography. They have weaknesses too, but for me it's not a deal breaker.

YMMV

I have another question.....

Basically the only difference I see between Note and S20 are colors and skin tones. I find it hard to believe that it has anything to do with hardware but more so just software tweaking and perhaps UI 2.1 "features". What do you think?
