Is the Flip a sales Flop?

Haha you guys focused on trade-ins and resell of the post and are failing to answer the question of the post...is it a sales flop?

I also gave an advice if you're in the market for this phone to just hold up on buying it as it looks like prices are tanking. You can get a much better deal then those who pre-ordered it.
I'll answer the question. I see no indication that's it's a flop and your speculation based on the resale market doesn't convince me.

So lack of demand and carrier price drops is no indication of a device struggling to sell? Okay gotcha

Your lack of demand is pure speculation. Carriers generally drop price shortly after pre-sale.

When I was working on buying mine (due to be delivered by Monday) all the extra colors were sold out already. I settled for old boring black cuz I didn't want to wait. I personally think it's too soon to make this judgement when you look at the other things people are saying on this thread. Due to the economy and covid maybe more than this phone appear to be lacking in sales as well. I don't know but it's a thought those that watch these things might want to delve into.

On a side note, VZW should really open up their minds and offer different colors in my opinion.

And probably in a few months they will start offering more colors. And a special BTS edition that will sell out also.

I hope prices drop a lot, flop or not....if it gets low enough I'll buy one. And I had no intention of picking one up.... but because of this thread I'm now going to keep an eye on the flip flop :D

You can just call me Sir Flipfloppricedropalot.

I like cheap phones..and I cannot lie :p

Take it from a guy who paid his bills selling phones for 4 years. It is very hard to tell how well a phone will sell based on pre orders, and if poor sales in the first 2 weeks is a flop than nearly every Galaxy device has been a flop.

Phones are absolutely nothing like movie sales. Despite the S series launching in the spring, we always sold more during the holidays when the device was nearly a year old.

Galaxy devices have been flopping for the last three years, what are you talkin about? Samsung have been selling less Galaxy (flagship) devices every year for the past 3 years, which is why they've been flooding the market with mid and low budget phones.

And here we are reading the advice of someone who'd come into a Samsung Forum, dive deeper into a specific phone model forum in there and then trash both Samsung AND the phone model. Folks in here zflippin the OP off.

He said "every Galaxy," not just the ones that suit your agenda. What is your ultimate goal with this increasingly silly topic?

Yeah this thread is becoming increasingly nonsensical. There are people that derive some odd form of pleasure from watching certain brands do poorly. It's like a perverted sense of fanboyism.

Buy what you like, ignore what you don't.

I wouldn't go by 3rd market sale prices as indication... Many brands not just Samsung I see some great deals to be had soon after release date.... people pick up great deals for new phones with the purpose of reselling and you snap up good prices.. and it's not always easy to sell bc plenty people like monthly payments not paying out whole amount... As for Samsung they had record 1st and 2nd quarter overall including uptick in mobile... Factor in Covid and you still in pretty good standing..

Or they are making them cheap enough to obtain directly thru them. I try to avoid buying phones thru third party avenues. Samsung will base their sales of the folds like they do any other phone. Samsung came up with the multiple trades and they hit a home run. It's going to hurt third party resellers IMO.
It's also very difficult if not impossible to add Samsung care to resale phones and warranty service is questionable.

Not very difficult at all.... warranty follows the IMEI number just like a apple warranty...and you can add a warranty service like asurion which is who provides the service for "Samsung care" anyways.

If you haven't purchased a phone like places like eBay or swappa maybe you shouldn't talk what you don't know

I have purchased on Swappa and Ebay and speak from experience. Please don't dictate what people should or shouldn't talk about.

Sorry but this is wrong information!!!

So you can't add insurance if you buy a phone on swappa or ebay?

It's not wrong Information. I've been there and done that. Samsung won't let you add insurance on resales.

Also people selling the flip on swappa are just trying to make a quick buck. Likely got the phone for say $400 via a trade in, then sell it for $800 for a nice $400 profit.

That’s not a $400 profit when you traded in a device.
