Is the HTC 10 priced too high?

Seems that apparently the coupon code is no longer valid at least on the US site I was under the assumption the code was good until May?

It's not HTC fault? Really? They cannot advertise their product with ads that go directly against Samsung and Apple and it's somebody else fault?
That's how Samsung started, they made a good phone and went against IPhone directly, nobody knew about Galaxy brand.
They can make a phone twice as powerful compared to G7 or IPhone, without big marketing campaign they won't make big sales numbers. Let's hope they sell enough, it would be sad to go away.

No, this is not how Samsung started. They copied the iPhone and many consumers thought that this is just another iPhone. Copying is unethical and Samsung should be punished for its lack of ethics..

Oh wow, I just pre-ordered yesterday too. Maybe the coupon only has a limited number of uses? Anyway, I was willing to buy at $600, but not $700. Without the coupon code I would have waited for the price to come down.

I just finished talking online with htc and apparently the coupon code has expired but it shouldn't have.the lady said they're working on the problem so I suspect it'll be back.

Re: Priced too high?

Canada's exchange rate sucks. Blame your Prime Minister and Economic Council.

It has nothing to do with our Prime Minister or Economic Council. It has to do with your Federal Reserve monetary policy exporting inflation to the rest of the world artificially.

I don't think this is priced too high. Currently saving up to buy it unlocked

In the UK it's priced at the sort of level you'd expect for a flagship phone. Also, at the time of posting this, a 10% discount is available when ordering from HTC and using a promo code.

Me too .I wonder if it makes a difference if I order through the US site or if I have to use htc canada because I live here.?I'd be saving even more by paying in us dollars even with our exchange rate.

Not sure. Even without the promo code, I still don't think it's asking too much. I can't acquire that much cash that quickly, so I am not counting on a promo price. (Watch...I save up, order and 3 days later they give another $100 off...lol)

I ordered through HTC Canada yesterday. At one point, it will redirect you to processing via HTC USA, which was weird as it started to list US carriers with which the 10 would be compatible. However, the price remained the same: $999.00-$100.00 coupon and it does show shipping to my address in ON.

If you can order via US and have the coupon, I checked the exchange which had the phone at around $767.99 CAD (+tax). I'd say that $132.00 makes a difference.

I believe that HTC feels this is the "iPhone of the Android world" and are pricing as such.

For people like me (phone geek/nerd/etc) that buy phones unlocked (prepaid is the best thing that ever happened to me, I have an old unlimited plan and used 140gb last month no slow down with T-Mobile) so spending $700 on a phone is out of the question.

I spent $429.00 on my Galaxy S6 G920i from eBay brand new in box and I've been very happy with it. The HTC A9 was priced higher then this phone and I think this phone is way gutty better.

Before this phone I had an Xperia Z1 compact, I paid again around $420 for it on eBay.

I don't see no reason to give $699.99 on a phone when $300ish nexus 5x can do the same exact things, maybe can't play the highest best games but I don't use my phone for those reasons anyways I have a ps4 for that.

just my 2¢

If a company like HTC has problems selling phones is the biggest reason the money. Why wouldn't you buy a Nexus 6p or 5x which runs good software and always the next updates. You also can buy oneplus for a lower price and good build quality.

For me the price over 600$ is way to high

HTC is promising fast updates. They also slimmed Sense down to the basics. With the HTC 10 you are getting the stock Android experience, with a few much appreciated addons. This is the perfect Android for me.

I think HTC did this:
slimmed Sense down to the basics

to improve upon this:
HTC is promising fast updates

I don't agree about the statement of stock experience; to say near stock/vanilla would probably be more accurate. I am under the impression that this new version of Sense is similar to what Moto had for the 2013/2014 Moto X. Now, don't get me wrong...I like the way they are going here.

Because the 5X is mediocre and the 6p is too large for others plus it has the SD810 which isn't as good as the newer SD820?

Make it so.
