is there a way of getting the akg k451 headphones to work with android?

Hi, I have a galaxy nexus and I intend to get a good pair of headphones. After some reviews read, I think I would go for the akg k451 K 451 - AKG shop, BUUUT: the mic and volume control will work only on apples. wtf? Is there an app able to correct this or some in-line mic and volume control cable for android based devices ? thank you in advance, I am really dissapointed with akg, didn't expect they fall for apples.

All the headphones are like that. I believe there is a patent issue involved. I saw a post somewhere where a guy got the 3 button ones partially working by adding 2 resistors to the control, but a lot of work and only partially worked.
