Is TMobile's $30 4G plan gone?

Hi guys.
Do you guys know if the $30 4g plan works with galaxy s4 I9500 (international version??)

Hspa speeds, not LTE, and only if it supports it on the Gsm network. Not sure if it will or not. Might have to call TMobile to confirm.

Thanks!
It supports gms network!
I better go to tmobile tomorrow and check to see if it works
should I get the sim kit from the store and activate it through online?

BTW, everyone still strugglin with the slow or no service issue?

Most of us usually get the kit online as there have been problems getting from the store. But whatever you do, activate online! In my area, TMobile has better coverage than AT&T.

Thanks Scott!
Two last questions:
1. If I have enough balance in my account, let's say I still have $60 in my account after I paid this time, will they automatically charge $30 from my account after 30 days? Or do I will have to like go online and choose something like "refill by using the balance in my account"? I just want to know if they automatically charge and continue the service as long as I have enough balance in my account.
2. I have a T-mobile number now and I want to keep it and move it to the $30 prepaid plan. Do I do this online after I get all the procedures that you mentioned done?
Thank you!

1. You can set up your T-Mobile account to automatically renew your plan and deduct $30 every 30 days to avoid any service interruptions. If you don't have auto renewal set up, T-Mobile will send a free text message to your phone before the next renewal date. (I think it's 3 days before it's due.) That is a friendly reminder for you to add money into your account.

2. From what I understand, you can move a T-Mobile number to the $30 plan, but not directly. Strictly speaking, the $30 plan is only good for NEW accounts. If you have an existing T-Mobile number, that is not considered a new account. Have you considered porting your existing T-Mobile number to Google Voice? That is one way to handle this problem. Another way is to port your existing number to another provider (e.g. AT&T) and then port it back to T-Mobile, but that can be more complicated.

I hope this answers your questions. If you have any more, please ask!

The Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 supports 850/900/1900/2100 for 3G, so it's missing the 1700 band for T-Mobile. It looks like you won't be able to get 3G speeds for T-Mobile unless you're in an area that is refarmed for the 1900 band. However, you will be able to get the slower 2G speeds.

How many minutes will you likely use? If you go over it's 10? per minute over 100 (or an extra $10 per 100 minutes), so you can still keep the cost well under $70.
And if you are using Google Voice to forward calls you can get a Skype number for $5/month and their unlimited calls plan for $2.99. So unlimited/unlimited/5gb for about $38/month.

^^ yep. And worth noting is that even in refarmed areas, the HSPA coverage on 1900 is not as good yet as it is on 1700. There are lots of places in Los Angeles (officially refarmed) where my iPhone 3GS is on EDGE but my N4 has HSPA.

Thanks Scott! I prefer not to port my number to Google voice because I don't want to change my number. So the only way is porting my old number to another carrier and then port back to my new prepaid plan?
Has anyone here successfully switched your old T-Mobile number to the new T-Mobile prepaid plan directly?

I originally got my Nexus 4 on a two year contract in February. After I paid the first bill, I cancelled the contract by signing up a new account on the T-Mobile site and choosing the port my number option and then filling in my # from the old T=Mobile contract. It transfers it instantly.

giant thread maybe its been mentioned. i just got my sim card from tmobile. i input all the information i needed to keep my old number. im in the final stages of selecting my payment. I hit confirm and it keeps telling me the Auto pay amount has not been filled out. I dont see that autopay option anywhere. So what do i do?

EDIT: So i called support with this concern. They told me that I cant pay yet b/c my phone number is not activated. They said in six hours the phone will be activated, then i can create a account to setup pay. Seems weird. Plus they couldnt confirm the price or the plan i signed up for.

Hi~ Did you have a contract wit T-Mobile before you switched to the $30 prepaid plan? If you switched your old T-Mobile number to the new prepaid plan successfully, could you please tell me exactly how to? Thank you so much!

Can I buy a SIM card in a T-Mobile store without them activating it?

Just sign up for the plan, creating a new account. It will give you the chance to port the number over. You just use that. It will close the old account. You need a new sim card to do this.

Went to T-Mobile today. They wouldn't sell me a SIM without activating it, and Walmart was sold out, so I went to Best Buy, bought a full size SIM, and cut it down when I got home. Works just fine.

Can anyone who is in a DC-HSPA+ (42mbps) market with the Nexus 4 list their speedtest results? I am currently on LTE with AT&T in Sacramento and I usually get 50-55mpbs down and 20-25mbps up, with around 40ms latency (LG Escape is my current phone). I want to see how DC-HSPA+ compares on Tmo. I get a employee discount so I pay around $50 for unlimited grandfathered LTE data, but could save some cash on Tmo with the $30 plan. I rarely use my phone for calls :) Thanks!!

Thanks for sharing your experience, NexusGirlX! I thought you couldn't port a T-Mobile number within T-Mobile, but I'm glad I was wrong! You basically just switched plans, which is a good thing since it gives customers more choice.

By the way, did your contract come with an ETF, or did you have to pay off the remaining balance for the price of your phone? I heard T-Mobile wants to do things differently from the other carriers.

Since the phone was offered for free with a two year contract In February, once I paid the first months bill the phone was officially mine. I cancelled the day after paying my bill by simply porting my number over to a new account. About a week later, I got the bill with an ETF of $115. I paid it and got a statement saying the account was paid in full and there was no additional amount owed. The first months bill was $140 and the ETF $115 so that was much cheaper than buying the phone through Google. The phone was the 16GB model.

Now of course there is no two year contract and no option to get the phone for free from T-Mobile.

Also, if you ever have an unpaid balance and owe money on a phone through T-Mobile, they will blacklist it so that it will stop working till the bill is paid. This is why I made sure I paid all the amount that I owed.
