Issues with static, crackles, pops, and squeals during calls

Could this possibly be a bad batch issue? I looked through the start to the end of the LG G2 Sprint and Verizon complain threads and the Note3 with the same issue complain thread and all of them started around the same time. Mine was purchased within the last two weeks. 1 from BestBuy warehouse, other two from local BestBuy store. All within same timeframe.

I started the thread on 10/5 with the phone in using now. My first phone was purchased at the end of September.

Also have the same problem on my Sprint phone. So we know it's not an issue with the network now.
I had this issue with sprint version. 3 phones same issue. I gave up on calling them, spent too much time with no resolve. Today 11/26 I called them again, they made me enter two codes and disable something. I did not write down because I figured this, and many of their other feeble attempts would not work. BUT IT DID. I am posting on Verizon forum because maybe there is a fix. Tech support told me this workaround was given to them 11/22. Maybe if someone on this forum with sprint, calls, and writes down process, people suffering can use it. I am sorry I didn't write it, figured it was useless. But since both phones are CDMA, maybe if you disable what I did, it will work. It was some like ECVDb it was enabled, they made me disable, first phone call in a month that was clear. Hopefully the steps can get posted and you guys resolve problem.

IVE DONE IT!!!!!! IVE FIXED IT!!!!! I felt every bit of anger and disgust as all of you OMFG im disappointed with LG customer services and this is the last LG electronic device I shall purchase in my life again... SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Verizon Wireless Only from your dial pad type this in ##PROGRAM980 then press Send or Call. It will ask for a service key, the code is 000000 and after you type it in a menu will pop up, select FIELD TESTS, THEN SCROLL DOWN TO VOICE SO. I chose 13 QCELP and its crystal clear, but it can vary depending where you live, TRY ALL 3 before you stop. YOU MUST POWER CYCLE DEVICE AFTER SELECTION EACH TIME. As stated the 13QCELP is so clear for me its like a new phone. OMFG WAIT.. THIS IS A NEW PHONE, MY 3RD IN 4 DAYS. Agaain please try each of them before settling there is 3 options. EVRC Software in this device seems to have software issues in my opinion. But in your area it could be better than 13 QCELP. DO NOT SELECT WILD CARD WHICH IS DEFAULT.

Guys, I had to chime in. This is purely a CDMA issue that is limited to the heavy compression that is being implemented by Verizon the last few months. Verizon used to have the best call quality but they seem to have gone to ----; even worse than the pre-Feb AT&T, who used to compress to half-rate.

The difference between a HD TMobile to HD Tmobile call versus a call to Verizon is massive. Hard to believe how clear my calls are when calling another person on tmobile HD. I can tell in 2 seconds when I have called a Verizon cell or even sprint, as the calls suck. AT&T is pretty good too now that they use Full-Rate AMR-NB.

Now, I also have a VZ LG flip phone that I use as backup. I too have forced the voice to 13k QCELP and it's very good. However, this can be changed at any time by the base station. The only way to force 13K QCELP is by setting the p_rev to rev 4. However, keep in mind that you will be slowed down to 1X (2g) speeds. EVRC is the best option though. Just do not select 4GV-NB, as this allows mega compression. Again, if your handset is set to the default p-rev 6, the base station can override anything you set - at any time.

The other things to note about the 13k QCELP is that it consumes the battery very rapidly. That said, when you have no wind, the call quality is close to VOIP with 13k qcelp. 13k Qcelp voip quality turns to ---- when it's windy.

8k EVRC is the optimal.

EVRC-B is what sounds like crap, as they can heavily compress it. Again, the only way to force this is to also select p_rev 4, but this has the consequences mentioned earlier. That said, if you have changed the protocols and it still works with the p_rev 6, then I would try 8K-EVRC.

I am just not sure how forcing p-rev 4 affects the LTE, considering that they are technically different services and circuits.

Damn - does this really work!? Literally a day before I was going to upgrade to the S4 with Best Buy's black Friday sale and you drop this bomb on me. Can others please confirm or deny this fix for Verizon?

I can report that it sounded better for me after making the change, but I only had two calls yesterday, so I'm still testing. Also keeping an eye on battery life.

So, I got the OTA update a couple of hours ago. So far, I've made/received 4 calls to/from landlines and cell phones and they've been crystal clear! I'm cautiously optimistic that this issue is resolved =)
