It happened. The camera. :(

There is definitely an issue with that lens. You would think the front would crack before that. I baby mine and I'm still worried. Always checking it. Ugh

Front vs back breakage would depend on how it lands.

It looks incredibly easy to replace with the G5, so I'm hoping this phone is just the same. Pictures honestly don't seem to show the crack unless there's light coming directly in towards the camera, then the cracks are noticeable. I'll have to upload some pictures.
While searching for a replacement lens last night I did come across tempered glass protectors, they were like little circular dots that basically reinforced the glass if anything. A quick amazon search should bring them up

so you removed the plastic film specifically covering the lens? why?

or did you mean the plastic film covering the entire back (and front) of the phone? there's 3 separate pieces.

The small piece of plastic film that covered the glass that broke, that's what I removed. Why did I remove it? I don't see a tiny, less than 1mm thick sticker keeping the glass from cracking.

OUCH!
This is why I bought my S7 Edge a Case the very same time I was picking it up at the store, its been in it from the moment I began using it.

I hope you are able to get the parts ASAP, the thought of that awesome phone just sitting gathering dust is a sad one.

Why did LG have to use such a setup with an elongated piece of thin glass though? They were begging for issues.

Any protruding camera lens when camera off is a serious design flaw shared by several great phones in pursuit of a silly goal to make phones thinner than thin. Make it a little thicker and you can fit in a bigger battery and make it easier to hold!

Agreed. I am glad Samsung changed that with the Edge phones because I hated laying the phone down .. I felt like I would hurt the camera on previous phones where it stuck out.

I really noticed it on my S6, and it wasn't attractive either.

I've never really minded cameras protruding out the way they do on some devices. Yeah it's inconvenient to set them down on the lens, but not a deal breaker for me. I typically have cases for my phones, I wasted no time with my N7 being glass front and back but I guess I should have ordered one for this too. But even then, with how fragile the glass appears to be I wonder if it would have still cracked? I mean it was a solid, hard impact.

I have to say after using this device for about 9 days now, my N7 does feel more clunky and slow. Even though it has the same amount of ram and same professor, the v20 running nougat is much nicer IMO. I did place a piece of packing tape over the lens to hold it together and keep it from imploding into the wide angle lens, I'll probably order a case tonight and keep rocking it. Never thought I'd see the day I wouldn't feel bad about having to return the note 😁

Buy the bumpers.

but, heck I could barely even tell it was there and it surely wouldn't have done any harm leaving it on....who knows, it may have helped.

oh well, learn the hard way.

Same, but once I found it my ocd kicked in and I had to remove it. I don't think I learned the hard way to leave a thin piece of film on a vulnerable lens. I was walking at a fast pace, phone was rapidly ripped out of my pocket and slammed onto a rough concrete sidewalk. If anything, it should tell me to rock a case no matter what.

Funny thing is that my Note 7 has taken 2 hard falls on asphalt, cartwheeled after impact, and even taken direct face impacts on concrete from 3-4 feet and it has one tiny, tiny, tiny mark from the first impact it took. And nothing else.

Or maybe the most important lesson, I shouldn't have my phones in the pocket of these particular pants seeing as most of said falls happened falling out of the pocket. Not trying to be a keyboard warrior nor get into a battle, but seriously a tiny piece of plastic isn't going to protect a DIRECT, hard impact on such a vulnerable piece. If that were the case we should all invest in Reynolds cling wrap and wrap our phones in it

It is easy on the G5

Ouch. Sorry for your loss.

Good news is that the lens cover is very easy to replace. Just a screwdriver and some patience. Way easier than most other phones.

Agreed. Camera lens are sensitive anyway, why take the risk and make them easier to break via design production?

That's unfortunately the side effect of making a device that makes a serious first impression at the storefront.

Another reason why a case that compensates for a camera bump is essential.

Agreed but it takes a damn thick case to cover that bump completely

I got a case on Amazon for $7 covers it completely and still looks nice. I honestly think as long as your camera doesn't take a hit most people should be fine and won't have a problem
