I've got a Nexus 5X, you've got questions. Let's do this!

For those of you still awaiting delivery and wondering about the LED notification I thought I would just add the following:

1) it is SUPER bright, especially when compared to the original Nexus 5. The OG Nexus 5, as I'm sure most of you will know, is one single round muted LED. The 5X LED is made up of 9 tiny LED's arranged in a square. You can't really tell in this short video https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=bTRrTjNVUl9VOV9NWV85Q3U0TkxHY1RsR2R6QlpR but they can easily been seen with the naked eye.

2) On my OG Nexus I was using LED Blinker Pro with no issues. On the 5X I found that it wasn't triggering for all notifications (tried a reboot and checked all settings). I have since opted for LED Flow and now all is good. Blinker Pro may well work for you but I had issues.

Again it is SUPER bright which has its' advantages in certain scenarios such as outside in daylight but I assure you at night in a darkened bedroom you will want to be laying this sucker face down !

Can you confirm if there is an option to close all apps button in Marshmallow? I'm currently Using OnePlus One lollipop (waiting for my 5x). When you need to close all apps is there an option to close them all or do you have to close one by one? Thanks in advance!

USB-C allows you to use your phone to charge other devices. Have you used that feature yet?

Anyone confirm that the 5X works fine on t-mobile wifi calling?

What about band 12, any idea if it works yet?

I just sent Russell a PM. I'll post it here in case anyone wants to reply. Thank you.

Russell:

I am trying to determine whether my next phone will be the nexus 6 or the nexus 5x. What is important to me is snappiness and speed. Waiting and lag frustrates me. I'd say the issue that frustrates me the most is my Nexus 5 has issues playing a podcast (downloaded podcast through pocketcasts) while also providing voice guided navigation via google maps. I'll be listening to the podcast, then the navigation will pop in, and then sometimes the podcast wont come back on. I hope this is useful info, but I don't play mobile games.

The situation that I am having trouble with is the nexus 6 has the older 805 but more RAM where the nexus 5x has the newer 808 but less RAM. I am having trouble determining what this means for me in a real world situation/laymen's terms. Another question is, in your opinion, how much better is the 808 than the 805?

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. If you prefer, I can post this in your I've got a nexus 5x thread, you've got questions thread so that others may benefit from the info as well.

Thank you

I'd say the difference in speediness between the 2 devices will not be noticeable. Get whichever screen size you prefer (or whatever other things you like about either one like fingerprint, moto features etc...).

Pro tip: a fun way to get a direct answer (outside of threads like these) is to send a voice recording to podcast@androidcentral.com with your question. so your question can be answered on the podcast.

Tell 'em Ry sent you. :)

There is not. Its a case of swiping like a loon again :)

It's been so long, so forgive my silly question.. Can I activate my new Nexus 5x over the phone, or do I have to go to a store? I'm on AT&T.

Thanks

I am moving from the Moto X 2013. How do I copy files to the Nexus 5X? I have changed the USB to Photo and to transfer files, but on my previous phone, I had pictures in different folder that showed up in the Gallery as different albums. Now on the N5X, even though they are in different folders, they show up along with everything else. Can I replicate my old functionality on this phone? I don't want to use the cloud.

Not really 5x related. I'm coming from my iPhone 6+, I'm mostly switching to rid myself of the horrible apple services (maps, siri). Is there an android equivalent to holding down the power button to activate "ok google"? I realize I can just say "ok google", and I might prefer that, but sometimes I would like a minimal physical gesture.

If you had the opportunity to try some cases, do they get in the way of the fingerprint scanner, or not at all? Even sligthly: do you need to push your finger in the socket the cases create (if any)?.
Thanks

I was using ringke fusion for the first couple days and had no problem accessing the fingerprint scanner. However that case has a single fairly large cutout for the scanner and all the camera hardware so ymmv.

Is there no charging LED light when you place the 5x on the charger? I've looked everywhere to see if I missed a setting. I did enable pulse notifications. This is the first phone that doesn't glow when you plug it in to charge???

Ram is not a problem, I've got multiple apps running and it is still very fast and responsive. The fingerprint sensor is so fast as to be instantaneous while the light weight of the unit makes holding it in one hand a lot easier. This is a really nice phone.

It does not glow when plugged in.

Hey Russell,
Thanks for writing this thread. I'm having a strange issue where I'll turn the ringer volume and vibration off and a few minutes later it will go back up all on it's own. Is this normal and is there a way to stop it?

Thanks!
