I've got a Nexus 6P here, lets get some questions going!

How so? Is Google Voice still necessary or can I finally unistall / not have to use?

AT&T, currently.

if you're using a google voice number there's a very large chance you'll still need the voice app, unless you've ported your voice number to your carrier, etc.

any* existing charger with a USB plug will be able to charge the phone with a type-a to type-c cable.

*as always, you may encounter a random strange device here or there that won't work, but 99.9999% of the time it will.

People really need to stop worrying about charging this phone. =/

The problem is many of us invested in quick chargers that want to be able to get fast charging with more than just the supplied charger. Ways you'll be able to fast charge aren't super clear yet, which is really a little odd. Google could have been a bit more clear on this. Hopefully usb c catches on quickly this year and we'll see more chargers that can supply the needed voltage/amperage for fast charging. I have half a dozen QC 2.0 chargers I snatched up at around 10 bucks a piece, now I need usb type c fast chargers.

how the phone "fast charges" is quite clear. a charger has to be a 3A charger that follows the USB power delivery spec, which is a standard format, and not proprietary like qualcomm quickcharge.

Yes, it sucks for all the people who bought a bunch of QC chargers.

And honestly, 2A charging is enough for me 99% of the time. I fully do not understand the obsession with having to have quick charge on every adapter. I saw one person posting that they're going to use an inverter with the google supplied charger in the car to get fast charge there, which seems.....extreme. my $10 2.1A car charger is plenty good enough.

I'm super happy for you and you're an inspiration to me for your ability to cope with this nightmare, however, I and many others agree, there's unnecessary confusion about what will result in fast charging. That's really all it comes down to. It's come to the point where reviewers are conducting tests to see what kicks the phone into fast charging.

Is 2a good enough? Sure, but fast charging happens to be a feature many of us really like, and we want to take advantage of it, everyone uses their phone differently.

I read somewhere that if you unlock the boot loader on the 6P, it literally blows an internal fuse. It doesn't do anything to prevent the phone from working, but it's an irreversible flag that someone has tampered with the phone (which also breaks warranty). This wouldn't matter to me, personally, since I trip the counter on my Samsung phones when I root them, and as far as I know there's no "triangle away" for the latest Samsung phones. But it would be interesting to find out if this is just an unfounded rumor or if it's true.

Nexus 6P appears to use e-fuse to store permanent record of unlocked bootloader | Pocketnow

When unlocking the bootloader for the first time, the phone reportedly marks an area of one-time programmable memory with a flag that indicates the hardware’s been unlocked. The presence of this “electronic fuse” is visible above in the Qfuse section of the Nexus 6P’s fastboot menu.

I'd love to see some GPS performance numbers. Could you try to get a GPS lock indoors and see what level of accuracy it would reach, and also see how quickly you can get a GPS lock outdoors and what the error is?

Also, how good is the audio from the headphone jack?

Can you reccomend please some charger 3A for example from ebay which will work with this google charging system and will be as fast as this system?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3phaw6/nexus_6p_has_a_hardware_fuse_that_blows/cw6k68e This person is saying otherwise.

qfuse enabled usually just means that secure boot is enabled.. which means that it requires aboot, sbl1 etc to be signed.. which is the case for just about all consumer devices. qfuse disabled usually means the device did not have it's proper secure boot fuses set at factory and could run any properly built img in the bootstack (insecure).

ok Good news that you actually have it.. I heard that some of the Nexus may have corruption error on a reboot. All the people in the world that have a Nexus 6P apart from us in the UK (due to delays) seen this issue at all?

Whats the usable screen size? I am coming from a Note 4 with 5.7. I tried the Moto X Pure which is 5.7, but minus the on screen BACK, HOME menu you lose screen size, unlike Note 4 with these buttons beneath the screen. Is the 6P the same where you lose screen size due to the buttons? Thanks

I was wondering if you have any dng sample shots, and since it uses the android sensor hub, do you expect an xposed mod to enable an always listening mode?

Obviously you will "lose" some screen size due the navigation bar, however once you open an app that requires full screen (games, video, etc.), they disappear until you touch the screen. The "usable" screen size will be around the 5,5" or 5,4", I guess.

Samsung is one of the few (if not the only one) that keeps using physical buttons on Android, but personally I do not like them at all. Going back to a Galaxy phone and having to actually press the home button is more of a hassle for me than a temporary "lose" of screen.

I believe the question is whether you can set up the phone with a fingerprint and then hold the lock button to disable the fingerprint in the event you are arrested which would then force you to enter your pin/pattern/password if you want to unlock the phone. If that isn't what he meant, then treat this as a new question from me, please.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer our questions!

So I saw in an earlier post you stated the audio from the headphone jack on the Nexus 6P sounds really good compared to the Nexus 5X...but is the Nexus 6P headphone jack audio louder than the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6? I've own both the 5 and 6 and I found the headphone audio to be really low on both (without rooting and boosting the mixer_path file.) I'm hoping the Nexus 6P headphone jack audio by default is substantially louder...is it? Thanks again!

I mean, why glass rather than plastic? Gorilla glass 4 is so much stronger and harder than the tempered glass, which breaks very easily, that it wouldn't offer any sort of improved shatter resistance to your phone, for example. And in sunlight, the glass will drastically decrease your screen visibility (as opposed to the thinner plastic protectors, which can improve it if polarized).

Screen protectors are not to protect against cracking the screen, they are really just to prevent scratches.

The plastic screen protectors over time absorb more oils from your fingers and I prefer my fingers to just glide over the glass. Best feeling is right after washing my hands and using it with zero oils or anything on the tips. Super smooth.

I also use swipe input vs hunt and peck typing.

I agree. I hate using a plastic screen protector, particualrly when I am playing games. Glass is so much smoother and much closer to actual glass of a screen. They do however add weight and thickness so I can see why some may not like it. I have a glass screen protector on my iPhone, and a plastic one on my Nexus 5. I switched out to glass on the iphone and did not feel any issues with brightness because of it. I must admit however that I havent rocked a bare phone in some years now so don't know how modern screens perform against the routine scratches etc.
