I've got a Nexus 6P here, lets get some questions going!

In the google app it asks you at startup if you want 4:3 or 16:9. 4:3 is the native resolution of the 6P sensor (just like past nexuses). That means if you want to capture in 16:9 you are cropping the original image from the sensor.

Russell has apparently left the building.... no need to post any new questions.

Regarding fingerprint sensor in car: can connection to car's bluetooth also unlock the phone?

yes, a feature called smart lock. That's been around since Android 5.0. You can have your phone "trust" a bluetooth device, and when the phone is connected to said bluetooth device, it bypasses your pin/pattern lock.

out of curiosity, why order the tempered glass? I can see the use for the polarized plastic to improve visibility in sunlight, but the tempered glass is just prone to breaking really easily and reduces visibility in sunlight.
Some like to be extra cautious. Like myself.

Guys, a standard QuickCharge 2.0 chargers charges at 9V. The 6P does fast charging at 5V @ 3A. You need to use the included charger or another comparable charger to get fast charge on the 6P.

I mean, why glass rather than plastic? Gorilla glass 4 is so much stronger and harder than the tempered glass, which breaks very easily, that it wouldn't offer any sort of improved shatter resistance to your phone, for example. And in sunlight, the glass will drastically decrease your screen visibility (as opposed to the thinner plastic protectors, which can improve it if polarized).

I think it comes down to personal preference. I prefer glass, it feels better then the plastic ones. It also last longer then plastic in particular to scratching. Tempered glass is more for scratch resistance, then drop protection. Sand will scratch the crap out of any screen. If you have tempered glass installed, well then I just have to worry about that getting scratches and not the actual phones screen. Also I have no issues regarding visibility with my tempered glass installed. Plastic ones seems to wash out your displays colors.

Any rumblings outside of basic Google search results on Google and T-Mobile making nice and supporting the 6p on tmos network? Even better.... Any inside info on whether or not T-Mobile will ultimately carry the 6p?

the 6P will work just fine on Tmobile. There's one band, 12 I think, that if it doesn't have won't work on VoLTE, which won't make a difference in the usable life of the phone.

the Nexus devices for 2015 are only being sold unlocked through Google in the United States.

Any advice for car mounts that would work especially well given the phone's size and button layout? Bonus points for ones that work with the CD tray.

Take a look at ProClip (Car Phone Holders and Dashboard Phone Mounts - ProClip USA). I've used their car mounts for several years and you can't beat their designs and quality. The lower portion of the phone rests in the cradle leaving the Nexus Imprint finger print sensor accessible. They don't list the Nexus 6P yet on their web site, but any of their mounts for the iPhone 6s Plus should work nicely as the Nexus 6P and iPhone 6s Plus have the same thickness and the iPhone is only .1 mm wider. (159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm) vs. (158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm)

Band 12 is not officially supported yet, but they are hoping to get support before it ships. I would bet it will happen sometime in November.

Is the glass flat or 2D? I ask because I want to use a Tempered Glass Protector but the 2D edges suck.

I have a feeling this is what I'll end up doing, though I do hope to see a 6P holder. I'm on a forum where others who own the same model of car really recommend this, they say it works great in our cars. Also, with as large as the 6P is, I think it will be good to have a spot to keep the phone while driving.

I don't think I've seen this directly answered, but I apologize if you already did...

Did you happen to test if VoLTE on T-Mobile was working? I guess the only way to really know is to be on T-Mobile LTE, make a call, and see if it drops down to 3G or stays on LTE. That's the barrier to enabling Band 12 on the 5X and 6P for T-Mobile, and if VoLTE is working, Band 12 should be too. Thanks!
