I've got the new Moto X, you've got questions. Fire away!!!

Which would you say has the more "refined" experience, the new moto x or the HTC one?

Trusted Bluetooth still in the same place as the previous Moto X?

I'll be using it like I use (and abuse) any other phone. But I can tell you now: Leather scratches. Leather mars. It's leather.

Why worry? I happen to like the patina of time-worn leather... I think it would add character. Had pleny of scratched plastic, metal or glass bits.... I'd prefer roughed up leather every time.

I was just thinking the same thing about how the leather will look over time - it could look pretty cool.

Have you changed the Touchless Control phrase from "OK Google Now" yet? If so, what are you using?

Not much sense in being able to bypass the lock with voice, right?

When it's trained to only respond to your voice (it is), I can see a lot of sense in bypassing the lock screen with your voice... My voice is mine... Lock code = voice

How does the AMOLED display do in direct sunlight? From what the reviews say the GS5 is coming close to LCDs. How about the Moto X? How does it compare to the HTC One M8?

Um, there's a setting in Moto Voice to allow you to use most Moto commands without unlocking the phone. There on the old one, pretty sure it's still there on the new one.

Right. Google commands, calls and notification details are all options while locked.

Pretty decent, I think? Need to test some more in Vegas.

Battery life benchmarks

It's clear that a lot of people care a lot about the battery life, yet you haven't done any battery benchmarks. Stop wasting everyone's time answering all these battery related questions with "uhh dunno.." and do a benchmark!

Nice try, but I'm not giving you my secret phrase that anyone can hear me say out loud.

(I'm using OK Moto X for now. Need to come up with something cooler.)

I'm sorry you feel that way. Please feel free to be rude elsewhere.

The really valuable battery "benchmark" is the anecdotal evidence provided by the reviewer. To be able to provide that requires TIME and varying use cases. He'll report when he has the data necessary to make a conclusion.

And that's the theme I've had rolling around in my head this weekend. What stands out now? Or will the sum of the little things make the difference?

To be fair, that's what a lot of the Android market is right now-mostly the same hardware, with the software features being the biggest difference

Hi Phil!

Moto Assist, Trusted Bluetooth, physical shell customizations, and touchless commands (Moto Voice) on an otherwise stock Android experience are what set apart the original Moto X and made it a far more satisfying phone than the specs would indicate.

Slow performance, so-so battery life, and a bad camera were the big cons, and the ones that personally sent me packing for an M8.

If the new X solves those problems while maintaining the previous attraactions, I'm down to buy on day 1. I'd guess I'd like a holistic opinion on the new Moto X.

Have you chased your kids around for pictures yet? I don't need the best camera, but I don't want a bad one. Also, after the M8 I don't want a sluggish phone...
