'I've Ordered a Nexus 5' Thread! (Order & Shipping Discussion)

@Gurilla, I am going through an identical situation as yours (although I'm in the US, not Canada): ordered early on 10/31, "shipped" email from Google on Sunday 11/3, UPS tracking continues to only show, "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status will be updated." and no pick up or delivery info, and when I ordered I was promised "leaves warehouse by November 8th".

I've been in contact with both Google and UPS and no one seems to take responsibility. When I called Google on the 6th they said their records show that the item had left their warehouse, when I contacted UPS they just as adamantly said they only had a label and no package. Google also seemed somewhat unconcerned because it wasn't the 8th yet (as if a package that had disappeared would reappear simply because the ship by date had arrived). Anyway, Google is supposedly looking into my case and will contact me. If I get any updates I'll be sure to post since I'm sure you're just as anxious as me. Hopefully we'll get these phones soon and FYI UPS does work on Veteran's Day.

UPS does move freight on weekends and holidays, but they don't do deliveries and I don't think their customer pick up locations are open either.

Hang in there, it was inevitable for ups to mess up some orders. They just happened to be your order, among others. You'll get your phone.

It's somewhat reassuring to know I'm not the only one with this problem. I called Google yesterday and they said all is fine with my order and it SHOULD ship out on November 8th (today). They also said call back around 3pm if UPS still has not updated their tracking information. Fingers crossed everything get's resolved today because i've just about had it with Google.

If it's still with Google and should ship out today, then Google is very silly. They shouldn't send an email that an item has been shipped when it hasn't (never over promise and under deliver), even if the email comes before the promised ship date. It just confuses people and makes them feel like there's an issue when the tracking number shows no progress for a week. Really, if they hadn't notified me of anything until today, and it actually ships today, then I would have no issue with them. Instead, Google and UPS are playing hot potato with who has this package. Also, the phones are shipping completely out of order from when people ordered them (some with 2-3 week notices have actually already gotten their phones) and that's also annoying people, I'm not quite sure what they're thinking over there.

Question. I just got an up date to ship date of 12/3. I also noticed the hold was taken off my card. So, I thought the hold was on until it shipped.
Can anyone confirm they had the same situation happen as mine? Thanks.

When did you order?

Hmm I'm not sure how that works. I ordered 10/31 and my credit card was charged (with the charges posting, not just pending) that same day. Did not at all coincide with shipping date.

Go to a T-Mobile store front...they will have you online and running in 15 or 30 minutes.

Unlike Verizon, T-Mobile staffs their stores with Phone nerds, not sales people. Talking to them was like talking to people on this site. They actually had a clue as to what the phones could do and how to set them up properly.

This was half true lol I went to my local t-mobile store and I the first sales guy that helped me out didn't even know what a google nexus was and said they they cant activate any phone unless they sell it personally. He said they couldnt even give me a sim card for prepaid because it wont work and he doesnt want to be responsible lmao he even refered to my nexus 5 as a "droid phone"...still gives me chills when people refer to any android phone that is not a droid as a "droid" anyway. So i got a manager who actually helps the AOSP team code and he got me up and running in less than 3 minutes lol It was overall a good experience and got a few laughs out of it

Ugh this wait is killing me, still don't get how people who order way after me have their phone but anyways.

what my phone has been doing it makes no sense, why wouldn't it just leave Louisville to come to Toronto? Plus it was sitting in Lexington for literally a day which also makes no sense because I could of received it today otherwise, oh well just have to wait. Went to Cincinnati to Sharonville? Just sitting there for hours now.

Yeah Almost Every first batch has some kind of a defect, I remember the Nexus4 complaints. Yes it is best that you take action now specially if you are not in a country where they don't RMA. I'm thinking the same thing. I might call it in tomorrow to ask for a refund and send to Google.

I have zero problems with my first batch N5.

Re: 'I've Ordered a Nexus 5' Thread! (Order & Shipping Discussion)

Got mine early this morning around 9, in Toronto, ON. Left it at home and just got home to play with it and the camera lens black cover popped off. Also, the volume buttons are starting to feel loose (like the power button is). Wondering....if its possible that those buttons would fall off too... considering the camera lens cover just fell off :p

That sucks. Send it back immediately. Luckily, mine has no issues.

It will show a pending transaction and then will drop off after a couple days. Once it's getting ready to ship they will charge your card.

The Ringke or Spigen fusion cases are pretty minimalist, while having a plexi back that lets the natural backing stay visible. IIRC, they're both on sale for stupid cheap on Amazon right now.

I just ordered a 32gb white Nexus 5 from wirefly for $119! I don't know how many times I asked the rep if he was sure it was the 32gb model and not the 16gb for that price. He replied every time, yes. Then went on to prompt me to the online site, under the phone's 'Quick look features and specifications' and sure enough, it's 32gb....for $119! :-)

I was looking at the actual google case but i will take a look at your suggestion. I will wait until its in my hand and see if i like the white first, I'm not really one for cases.

I've got a black 16GB and a white 16gb that were ordered on the 31st, but I have no signs of them shipping any time soon. The est date right now is Nov 22nd and the order is still PENDING. How is it people that ordered later than I did already have their devices?

Online ordering isn't necessarily a fluid queue as you would logically think it is, especially if there is more than one order management center. BUT, it does sound like your order got biffed since you ordered on the launch day. Within 2 hours the ETA's went from that week, to November 8th, to the 16th as inventory was electronically allocated. Sucks man, hopefully it's just a glitch in the tracking system and your order is already on it's way. (Wishful thinking)

If it's too good to be true, it is. Be careful.
