'I've Ordered a Nexus 5' Thread! (Order & Shipping Discussion)

Ordered my 32Gb Black Nexus 5 first thing this morning (well, first thing Hawaii time, will see how that works for shipping). Currently the ship date is listed as 2 Jan. I have enjoyed Android in the past, though stability issues have kept me on iOS for my daily driver phone, so I am hoping that the N5 provides stability with Kit Kat, and allows me to customize to my hearts content.

I ordered a black 16GB N5 on Christmas. The message said that it would ship on or before January 5. I received a message today, 12/27 that it had shipped and should be here on 12/30. Really looking forward to using this phone - especially now that most of the bugs seem to be worked out.

And it's here! UPS sent me a note this morning saying that they weren't going to be able to deliver it today, and then sent another e-mail in the afternoon saying that they would be able to deliver it today (12/30). I didn't really believe it with everything that UPS is going through this week, but sure enough, it showed up on my doorstep.

I'm impressed with the feel of the phone, I like it much better than my Galaxy S4. And the camera more than meets my needs. Adios TouchWiz and bloatware!

From where do I buy nexus 5? Google play or it can be bought from best buy etc?

What is the price for 32 GB and 16 GB model? the reason I am asking is - I noticed quite varied price while doing Google search for price.

I am looking for unlocked phone and no contact phone as I plan to gift this to some one in India. Is there anything specific to be looked for?

The Google Play Store sells the 16Gb model for $349 and 32Gb model for $399. This blog post explains the difference on the US vs Rest of World model, if you are using it/sending it international, you may be better served with the international model (of course check the bands used by the carrier it will be used on), though I personally do not know how you select the model when ordering, you may want to check the support section of the store. Considering that you may need to go with the International version, the Google Play Store may be your best bet.

I bought mine from the google store for ?339 for the 32gb in the UK. I've heard the price varies in other countries and that a few countries the Price does not work out as cheap as other countries after exchange rate. But in the UK it was dirt cheap on the google store as amazon want 350ish quid for 16gb and O2 are asking for about 550quid for the 32gb which is currently exclusive to their network in that capacity and no doubt full of their apps. Only other option is ebay but run the risk of second hand. I almost made the mistake of upgrading through my O2 to get it but did the math after tarrif and realised I would of got shafted if I had accepted

Agree and understandable different rates for each country depending on local taxes and exchange rates but what confuses me as to why there is significant price difference within US. Like I see Google play showing 349$ and few others ranging 100+ $ more for 16 gb model.

You should buy it from Google Play. If you want the shipping faster, then order it from Amazon but it'll be $100 extra the last time I checked.

Be sure you know which version of the N5 you are ordering. I'm pretty sure that you don't want the North American version (the cell radio bands that it uses are no good for India.)

I think (but I'm not sure) that there is only one non-North American version -- so presumably that would be the one to get for India.

I order nexus 5 32gb on December 31st. Finaly I bought my first nexus device, and I hope I receive the phone on Monday Jan 6, 2014.

I ordered mine on December 26th and it shipped, to Ontario Canada, on December 31. It has been in UPS Cincinnati since 5:16 on 31st. It's like UPS has a big black hole in Cincinnati. Had to wait to order due to a holiday and waiting is NOT my strength.

Maybe UPS shut down for New Years

I checked the status this morn and it still said the 5th and I got no emails so I stopped checking. Then all of a sudden my colleague passed me a parcel and I was honestly baffled until I opened box and found it was my phone. I haven't checked online since then but it came via Parcelforce so it must of came when collecting deliveries from our warehouse. My S/N also begins with 312k

I'm in scotland so I don't know if it defaults to parcelforce. I ordered on the 29th Dec late at night since I had fallen out with my current phone and then the despatch note says it was despatched on the 30th. Online has no tracking and still gives me option to change or cancel order so I don't know if there is delay in their aystem updates or if it made difference that I got it delivered to my work that deals with many couriers but I wouldn't of thought it would. It so looks sexy in the flesh compared to every photo I have looked at online

It prob say that as an estimate. But my guess is that it will come sooner. That's wat happen with me.

So far I'm actually loving this phone once I downloaded 8sms app in place of the hangouts app. So far it feels miles better than my old S4 Mini. And it came with 4.4.2 preloaded.

Also I know the camera don't have half of the options my old phone did but tbh I never used all the features and if I did it was out of real boredom.

So no regrets getting this phone
