2 quick questions....
1) Do you have a URL to the Liquid Smooth ROM (yours is not the 1st post I've read that says it's great) ?
2) What are the consequences of rooting a phone (I've never been clear and I know carriers try and scare you)? I'm a programmer - so the technical side isn't an issue - just not sure if I can go back to stock ROM and unrooted staus?
Thanks in advance!
Gloriosa,
1. Liquid Smooth has a facebook page, which is how I keep up with when they drop their nightlies or new stable builds, but all the major rom builds are posted on the website goo.im (Goo.im free android file hosting) Go to the bottom right under trending roms and you'll find liquidsmoothJB. So far my only real complaint with the rom is that bluetooth will lock up if you turn it on and off several times in a day, but only happens once in a blue moon (I do it when I get out of the car, just a habit developed since under touchwiz samsung battery life wasn't as great)
2.The basic commentary out of the carriers is that if you put on rom, your warranty is void. Basically break the phone they won't replace it. That being said you can unroot the phone. I tested this when I was in the whole "I think it's my phone not the software" phase. TMO sent me a brand new S3 to replace my phone, so I tinkered with the old one. You can easily find the original carrier stock and flash it back to the phone, and there is oodles of literature on both forums and just the internet on how to do that. My only recommendation is if you're going to return the phone to the carrier, purchase Triangle Away on playstore. What it does is reset your flash counter - basically hiding the fact you've flashed roms to the phone. The rest is basic unrooting which all forums have detailed guides on. I did that with the phone I returned and haven't heard a word from TMO, but again, I really doubt they check but it's a good precaution.
Hope that helps
