JT Super Clean Rom available on Rom Manager

Just did this tonight. I went from a stock rooted fascinate w/CWR

1) odin to clockwork recovery and backed up my stock rom
2) I installed JT's rom from sd and it gave me the choice to data wipe/install JT's 2.1 rom (I did both just to be on the safe side b/c people over in XDA have had problems with the stock eclair calendar when they didn't data wipe)

So now I probably have 2 nandroid copies of my old rom LOL. But I have had absolutely no problem with the JT's Rom. Best part is the new youtube player which has default HD settings = AWESOME not to mention the buttery smoothness of the rom itself.

YAY FOR NO MORE LAG.

If anyone has questions abt the install process I'll be happy to help b/c I did have to do a battery pull for Odin to work which almost made me crap my pants when my fascinate had the (phone ! computer) symbol and I thought I bricked my phone.....

No i don't have voodoo yet, i was thinking about it but all the different options and mixed reviews are making me think twice. I rooted my phone, de-bloated with Root Explorer and have TiB Pro. Idk what other important apps i really need right now, other than possibly CWM.

And about Cache i'm a total noob what do i need to make all that smoother?

For flashing roms CWM is a necessity. Not really sure about the question on Cache. Cache is basically locally stored information to help speed up your system should that information be needed again.

Thanks, I got the free version of CWM for now.

And I guess what I was really asking was would something like cachemate help free up more space/ram?

Gotcha. I'm sure it would help it's clearing data from your phone.

If I haven't use odin yet, should I un-root, then re-root and do the odin and CWM backup before I de-bloat again?

Sorry for the noob questions I just don't wanna mess anything up.

Thanks in advance.

No need to unroot just use Odin to install CWM as stated in the post. Just be very careful when using and follow the instructions to a T.

if you're going to add apps you want back in from a system dump, make sure they are deodexed versions, as this rom is deodexed, so throwing in an odex file won't make for a happy system.

I want to flash this rom but I have no idea what it does. I have voodoo lagfix and this whole time I thought that was rom.

Do I have to do anything to "deodex" my phone first? I have tons of odex files under system>app...

The ROM has been deodexed, which basically means that the .odex files have been removed. Once you install the ROM your phone is "deodexed".

What you need to watch out for is if you want to install a file that is not in the deodexed rom such as the Samsung Widget analog clock (using only as an example do not know if it is or is not included in the rom of your choice), it has two files /system/app/SamsungWidget_AnalogClock2.apk and the
/system/app/SamsungWidget_AnalogClock2.odex. This would not play well with your phone running a deodexed rom unless you found a version that does not include the .odex file

Thanks guys, it works. Everything is much smoother now. The only thing I really could say I miss is the stock music player during a lock screen. Other than that i'm loving it so far.

Now the ROM has "Stable Voodoo Kernel" and "Stable Non-Voodoo Kernel" listed. Do I do one of these? Which one?

I didn't choose one since I have the stock kernel, and it seems to work fine.

But if I'm suppose to choose one, I would think it would be stable non-voodoo kernel.

Any other input would be appreciated greatly. Thanks.

And after I installed the ROM am I supposed to flash it again? Or just back it up...

Been using this ROM since 0.1 and love having the stock lock screen and MMS. It's funny how geeked I am about making certain elements of my phone more generic!

Seeing that Voodoo Kernel is having mixed reviews, I too have chosen to stay away from the Voodoo Kernels. Granted this is a personal decision and each of us need to weigh the pros and cons on our own. I am just waiting to see a kernel come out that we can OC without the voodoo and run with that.

if you don't want voodoo (ext4) then pick non-voodoo, but i'd choose one, as they speed the phone up greatly compared to the stock kernel.

aside from the hassle of voodoo when it doesn't uninstall right, it does speed up certain aspects of the phone (or it's all in my head :p)

After you install the rom you are done, unless you do want to make a backup of it for use later. When you go into your SD card using Astro File Manager, mounting with your computer, or the manager of your choice, you will see a file called clockwordmod in that file is your backup file. They are stored as dates unless you changed the names when you made them. I usually keep one of my stock and debloated rom and name it something like _Original_Backup and then name the other roms accordingly. I would suggest keeping of one or two stored on your computer or a thumb drive, just in case, but that's just me never enough backups.;)

I flashed the ROM, everything seemed to work okay. Just wanted to know what the features of this ROM really are? And, it seemed to get rid of the boot up sound, which I liked. Any way to get that back?
