Juice Defender and Blockbuster Help

After clicking Running - What's your time spent without sleeping in hours?

Look at homescreen / Menu/settings / about phone / battery / battery use, what are the percentages displayed there? What is the unplugged time?

In Spare Parts, what does it say under Partial Wake usage? There shouldn't be anything noticeably larger than the others.

Under Accounts and Sync, what all do you have syncing? And at what intervals?

unplugged at 1245pm today. it's now a few minutes after 5pm. running is 37.4% 1h 39m. screen on is is 23.5% 1h 2m.

display 49%, android system 35%, voice calls 4%, cell standby 4%, phone idle 3%, htc launcher 3%, android OS 2%
unplugged time is about 4.5 hours

accounts and sync...facebook, facebook for htc sense, google, twitter, twitter for htc sense and weather. facebook is 4 hrs, weather 12 hours.

thanks for the help.

A lot of people say turn off GPS. I saw this in a thread somewhere, if your life is danger and you call 911 without the GPS sometimes they can't locate you. I don't know if thats entirely true... but yeah

You cannot turn off the 911 location GPS. You can only turn off the GPS that Google and other apps use.

Before GPS they used to just triangulate your position if there where 3 cell towers locked on to you.

Your android system seems to be taking much more juice than mine. Also your phone idle is much lower than mine. I believe that your phone is not properly sleeping when the screen goes off.

I know the facebook and twitter for HTC are supposed battery killers. Try using the ones downloaded from the market.
Have you looked at Spare Parts and selected "battery history" then "Partial wake usage" to see if any apps are preventing sleeping?

Also click on "Running" under "other usage", what does does it say there regarding "time spent without sleeping"? This is your ""running is 37.4% 1h 39m"" figure right?

Also, do you need all the things under Google to sync? Maybe uncheck one or all of them..

Have your done the blockbuster fix? I assume so. Have you done a complete power off in the last 2-3 days? If not then I'd try that. I hope you don't have any task killers running too.

stopped sync of fb and twitter for htc.

yes that's my time without sleeping. unchecked a couple of the google ones. no task killer. did the blockbuster fix.

gonna see how it goes

thanks again

Ok so as someone else had already mentioned happened to them, I went to bed last night and woke up 5 hours later to 10% battery warning and then within the next 20 min while supposedly sleep the phone died... This is my first Adroid phone as i'm coming from BB and had the guy at BestBuy download advanced task killer first thing in the store. So reading through this whole post and reading it other places i just deleted it. I'm working on the charge to full and then turn it off and charge til green again. Unfortunately from there im gonna have to let my phone sit for about 5 hours while i sleep instead of the 1 hour you said to do. In my sync list I have facebook and the only option in there is to sync contacts? Other than that I have my 2 email accounts and turned off most of google except the gmail part. If i have never opened that Blockbuster app is it still using my battery?

Open up your battery usage to see if the blockbuster app is eating battery, or anything else funny.

Look at spare parts "partial wake usage" under battery history to see if any apps are preventing sleep.

ok so my battery life was a little better today without the task killer but when i went into spare parts it said running 100% and when i clicked on that it was the whole time since it was unplugged last. The display showed like 55% under the settings menu...nothing too bad showed up under partial wake usage or at least that i remember because my phone reset itself while i was on the phone hmmmm lol
ps i fell asleep last night waiting for the green light so i'm gonna be doing it this evening, its plugged in and charging now.

This is NOT normal, something is keeping your phone from sleeping. Maybe the Blockbuster update, some strange syncing, or a app your downloaded. This 100% running stat was under "other usage" in "spare parts" right?

Under menu / settings / about phone / battery usage, does it say any apps are abnormally high?

Under Partial wake usage for my phone there are things listed but the little blue bar is almost nonexistent.

I really can't answer that question because the phone reset and i plugged it in to charge so it seems like everything was reset now... so like i said as we speak its charging and i will finish the whole green light charging thing and then let it sit for about an hour and go from there...

Good plan. Bump Charging will let your phone "know" what a full battery looks like. Hopefully it feels like sleeping now.

Ya its ok. But once it reaches 100 percent the charger will shut off. So when you unplug in the morning it'll probably drop to approx 95/96 percent fairly quick.

Great advise. If I may butt in here, what about charging all night with the phone on, will that hurt anything? For example, I usually turn the phone off and plug it in while I'm sleeping. Then in the morning I turn the phone on while driving to the gym in the morning and leave it charging until after the (about 1 hr total time from waking up turning on and done at gym). Then I ahve it unplugged the rest of the day.

That should be fine. There's a lot of protection circuitry and programming in these phones that prevent damage due to charging. When the phone is charged it'll typically shut off charging until the battery drops low enough, then it'll kick back on.

Ok, ive read the entire thread as suggested. Hopefully this works. I downloaded the spare parts app. My phone died for the 2nd time and I'm charging...currently at 97%. Once full I turn it off then charge to green. Then turn back on and run Spare Parts.

Do I then post the results to see if there is any problems?

Yes.

For some reason, I am getting wierd battery today.

Here are my results

Time spent without sleeping 1h 2m 14 s

screen on is 34%

When I charged the phone it turned green. I shut off and charged again but the light was still green. At 100%.

I'm just Gonna wait the hour and see the stats.

Sounds good, if your phone is sleeping then you should be in good shape.

Time spend without sleeping sound OK. As long as your phone has been on for a while. Did you have bad battery today?

It's good now, idk,

Today I checked email.. sent about 20 txts. And installed a theme through a file explorer there.

From about 7 pm to 9 pm it dropped 10-15% is that good?

Sometimes I get occasional drops that are more than normal. I just make sure that my total up time is still good. Maybe you have some app like the camera running the in the background... I use system panel to monitor apps and their CPU usage.
