just got new Pixel 4 XL, colors are washed out

Yep that's the first thing I tried, no luck I'm afraid, each setting is slightly different in colour but none have the same vibrance as the Pixel 2 screen does. Really disappointing

No I'm afraid there's no fix for it. I'm actually used to the screen now that I've had this phone for about 6 months. But it's definitely not a saturated is the Pixel 2 was. You might get used to it over time.

Thanks Tom! Yeah I hope so, I'm overall all kinda disappointed with the Pixel 5 (Pixel 2 was by far a better phone), terrible phone call, and speaker sound too. I wonder is google recently changed manufacturers to save money?

I doubt it , I've been on the pixel 4xl for awhile .

My 4XL has been set to Adaptive. Not sure if its been that way since I bought it, back in February 2020, or if it changed with Android 11. I'll try Natural for a while. I didn't realize that there were options. Glad that I read this post.
