just got new Pixel 4 XL, colors are washed out

How you liking it so far?

So far I'm really enjoying it except for two things lol. I hate that there's not a saturated mode on here, and I really do miss the fingerprint sensor lol. But the phone is very nice. You have a 4XL right?

That's great to hear, yeah the pixel 4xl white

I don't like the yellowish warm tint of the screens. I much prefer the cooler blueish tint.

The option to have it should be there.

Glad you are liking it so far! I too would miss the fingerprint sensor. How are you liking the Face Unlock?

If you're viewing on. Samsung screen or similar you can see the oversaturation

My Samsung screen is fairly well dialed in. I used color charts as well as images that were corrected on a color calibrated monitor/system.
Faces show bad WB/color calibration first many times.
Samsung color calibration sucks.
On this Note 10+ I have it set to natural, with about 15% set on the blue filter and a 3rd party apk overlay adding about 10% on the rd channel to dial it in by eye.
There's no color calibration apps for this device like Spyder:(

I don't want to take this thread off topic. The OP has a concern with his 4XL looking washed out compared to his 2XL.

Hey guys, I just ordered a Pixel 4 XL and received it today. when I put it side by side by my Pixel 2 XL the colors are really washed out compared to the Pixel 2. I have it set to adaptive display. is there anything I'm missing here? I know on my Pixel 2 I had a saturated mode. Is that not on the Pixel 4?

I noticed a similar thing when I got my Pixel 4 and compared it to my Pixel 3. It wasn't extreme but the Pixel 4 seemed to have a warmer tint than my Pixel 3 and less punchier colours. Once I sold my Pixel 3 and got used to the Pixel 4 it stopped bothering me.

Thank you. I think that's what will happen as well. Once I sell my Pixel 2 I won't have anything to compare it to lol

Sorry.

I was hoping a pure bred Android have better color management than its current Samsung counterparts.
The same.
No RBG option in Developer Options either as was in the older OSs :(

Did you find a fix for this? I just got my Pixel 5 and compared to my Pixel 2 XL the colours are quite bad, very washed out.

Hi, welcome to AC!
You tried the different screen modes in setting?
Can choose natural/vivid

No I'm afraid there's no fix for it. I'm actually used to the screen now that I've had this phone for about 6 months. But it's definitely not a saturated is the Pixel 2 was. You might get used to it over time.

Hi Mustang
Yep that's the first thing I tried, no luck I'm afraid, each setting is slightly different in colour but none have the same vibrance as the Pixel 2 screen does. Really disappointing :(
