Just held the HTC one in the store

There is a big difference between being hot and overheating. The device will easily work at 50 degrees Celsius also take into consideration that it has twice as many processors as the iPhone 5 and all of them have a much much higher clock rate (Ghz) the heat you felt was merely the extera performance.

Wait so you are ok with the phone getting too hot simply because it more processors? I don't know but when the iphone 6 gets released next year it should have quad core and I doubt it will get this hot. I also held a LG phone with a quad core in it and it ran normal. I'm hoping that was an isolated issue with that floor model and I'll find out when my unit arrives...

I can feel the performance burning my finger tips!

Yes electronics are designed to withstand temperatures higher than we consider warm to the touch but that doesn't mean phones are designed to run warm or should run warm. I'll be curious to see if there's a widespread thermal issue with the one.

Or wait to see some fanboy right something like... my one is so great, and I have to wrap my hands to use it because it gets so hot, but that's just the awesomeness fighting to get out, it's really so much better than the s4 because it's so hot because I'd the s4 was as good it would get hot too blah blah blah...

You plainly haven't the foggiest idea what googles standards are. The reason that apps have the bar, point blank period, is because developers have not properly updated their apps since January of 2012. Google provides the apis to do it, developers are just too lazy to make the effort. Any other conjecture on your part, including the entirety of your long - winded and ill - conceived post above, is wrong-headed, incorrect, and flat out false.

Actually, I 100% agree with you about what Google's API says.

So if I'm wrong about something, you should state what it is that you disagree with. After all, just another poster just posted some links that prove that I was correct in that HTC didn't care about Google's standard even after they were originally compliant.

I'm also not wrong in saying that if updated, an app will still have an action overflow button taking up screen realistate ounce finished.
The problem is, many users don't want to loose any screen realistate in some apps...and thus why they are not getting updated so fast.

So again, what was flat out false again?

For me the One has a major flaw in that it can't do inductive charging. I'm waiting for my upgrade in July and would LOVE to get this phone but I really (really, really) want inductive charging.

I just left an at&t store and messed with the phone just a bit. The first thing I noticed was that the screen was not bright at all. I checked the settings and the brightness was turned all the way up. I kept checking the settings thinking I'm crazy or something because this thing was not as bright as I've heard about. A LG Optimus G was sitting right by it and it made the One's screen brightness look horrible. I pulled out my galaxy nexus and my wife's S3 and they both beat the One. LCD panels are brighter than AMOLEDs so what gives? I'm hoping that, that model was defective. Has anybody else noticed this?

If HTC one is not bright to you, I'm sure you're going to go blind with an amoled display, especially in bright light

Most devices when plugged in run hotter, that's explain display models.

But once apps are updated they wont have the "black bar" because the menu button if needed will be somewhere inside the actual app. Take a look at appy geek as an example of an app done right (according to google). It has the menu type button on the upper right. Check it out, I think its probably the best example of where android is going

Thx. Downloaded it and I see my menu button disappeared on my Nexus 4. I'm curious what it does with other non-Nexus Android devices.

Agreed. The iPhone, in the past, was surprisingly smooth and lag-free with just one core.

That's just it. Some apps screen realistate is not important, and the action overflow button does work well. Another example is Pandora.

But some apps an an action overflow button will matter to some if it covers up some of the realistate, or shrinks it to be there.

On non compliant phones, you don't have this at all.

It is the developers fault. Period.

Also, go brush up on your android design guidelines. The overflow button was designed specifically to not take up any more space.
