Keep track of 3G data outages here for Virgin Mobile

That's a point. I wonder if asking for actual tech support would get anywhere, or if VM doesn't let the public get close to those guys.

I have friends on boost mobile(Nextel/sprint) and sprint, they are all having "data/service drop-outs"...

At first I thought it was centralized to just VM, but now my mind has went elsewhere...

Sent from my LG Optimus V using tapatalk pro.

VM customer service did try to tell me it was Sprint's fault. Usually I don't believe that, but given Sprint maintains all the network hardware I decided it was quite likely. If its affecting Sprint as well, then it's definitely Sprint's fault not VM's. (And yes, I know Sprint owns VM, but I get the feeling its operated as a fairly independent division).

A new user as of Friday, I FINALLY got service on my device today, and it seems pretty fast. It's actually faster than my AT&T most-times, I get 3G in many places I don't with AT&T, and it doesn't drain the battery as much.

dayton ohio up and running fine and its even storming here it seems to have slowed down a little bit the last few days usualy i get 1mb + speeds now im getting 500-700kbs

Well mine has been running great since about 7:00 pm. The afternoon was bad. The real test is from 3:00pm to 7:00pm during peak hours. I get the feeling that the system hicups at peak times and slows down and shuts off. I'll keep my fingers crossed and post tomorrow. I'm getting 800 down and 400 up here in Miami, Fl, it actually jumped to 1100/450 earlier, that's faster then I ever saw it.

Either its still completely down for me here in DC/MD/VA or I have an app issue on my phone preventing reconnect.

ALMOST worked for a couple of minutes this morning in Arlington, then dead again. We must be on different towers.

No 3G for 3 days here in Brooklyn, NY. VM support is VERY inconsistent. After many calls I finally found someone who admitted that it is down and they don't know for how long. It is a satellite issue. One person told me "to be honest with you Sir, it is because of the earthquake." WTF?

Down again at 11 (sent from WiFi). Back up at 1115. My landlord's Rumor Touch goes off and on also. Don't think it's the device but restrictions on the plan.

The problem is this isn't Virgin's fault. It's probable that the CSRs aren't as well informed as they should be.

If you want to stay up to date on the outage, it appears Virgin is active on both Facebook and Twitter.

I dont see any info from VM of FB but on Twitter I see some responses from some people apologizing and telling us they are upgrading to help capacity issues. Not a good thing, sounds like there infustructure is saturated and they didnt prepair for it. HMMMMMM I think a refund is coming for me. I'll wait a couple more weeks.

I've been down since Thursday and it hasn't come up even once for me. It's been down a solid four days and all I get from Virgin is "We're sorry but we're working diligently on this problem." I've been a loyal Virgin customer for 6 or 7 years and have had no problem until about four months ago with them. Now it's nothing but problems and excuses. I'm tired of paying for something I cannot use!

*(I have the Samsung Intercept, don't know if I should mention that as everyone else here has the Optimus)

Sounds like their unlimited mobile data plan.
They simply couldn't handle it, and yet they were advertising its true unlimited feature right up until they pulled the plug on unlimited as we knew it and introduced a 2.5GB soft cap throttle. It's technically unlimited still, but not very usable past 2.5GB.

I'm sure they will start adding a soft cap (throttling) on this phone soon.

Not to change the topic, but I have a question. Is the 3G infrastructure is separete from the 4G infrastructure? If it is, then wouldnt the 3G customers that switch to 4G relieve the 3G bottleneck? Just a thought....

3G was down in Portland OR all morning today and now appears to be up and running again, but still very annoying. I'm getting outages pretty much every day for at least several hours and I'm within the coverage area.
