Keeping or Returning?

What are you all doing with your phones? I am at 70% battery and it's 8:45pm. I have wifi, bluetooth and 4G on. Talked on phone, surfed web, read Kindle app, etc etc all day. I took it off the charger at 7am this morning!

So I am comfortably at 12h here! I don't think I will charge at all tonight and see how long this juice keeps going. (Standard battery FYI).

(Oh, definitely keeping it!)

Keeping phone 100% satisfied.

I previously had a Blackberry Curve 8310 for 5 years so this phone really makes me feel like I have been living under a rock for the last 5 years.

Seriously. You come to a thread filled with people struggling to make it through 10 hours without dying, and you drop a bombshell on us saying you're at 70% after 12 hours. Not sure what we can say other than...congrats?

Definitely returning it. After speaking with Motorola and Verizon they do not have a fix for the distortion caused by anything plugged into the headphone jack. I exchanged the phone and tried out two more demo phones and they all have the problem. Verizon tech support even suggested returning it until they have a fix. VERY disappointing because I liked the phone otherwise

That's really odd. I don't have any distortion at all and I use the headphone jack probably 3 hours a day.

Nothing. Yesterday I did literally nothing but clear out notifications (texts/emails) to see how long the battery would last. It didn't make it past lunch (7 hours) before I had to swap it out because it was <30%. Last night I left the phone off the charger as I went to bed (10:30PM), so it was idle the entire night. The battery was at 80% when I fell asleep, and when I woke at 6AM the phone wouldn't turn on because the battery was at 0% (confirmed after I plugged it into the charger).

Today I left 4G disabled the entire day. By the time I got out of my job interview at 10AM, battery was down to 60% (4 hours). I didn't do anything with the phone by that point in the day.

I'm not here to complain or rant about the phone. I'm here to share my experience and information as I test and monitor my usage to try and figure out if there's something specific that is causing my trouble while others are reporting normal battery drain. I can't see myself being able to keep the phone if this is standard. I haven't even used the phone yet. Typically on my OG Droid I would watch some SC2 replays at work, send some personal emails from my phone, text message a bit, and do some light web browsing. If I did any of that with this phone it would be dead by 10AM. I know this because last week I did some of those things and the battery was at 5% by 11AM and I had to swap it out.

Well, here is my screenshot from last night and my battery life. I do have Juice Defender installed. Maybe that helps a lot more than we think?

Definitely keeping. This thing is awesomely fast. Getting great battery life after having the phone since launch day. I do use the battery profiles to turn off data after 15 minutes though. I dont have super eyesight so the screen doesnt bother me. I love how sharp and clear it is.. HDMI Mirroring is a killer feature for me and the webtop is pretty slick too.. Not having any issues with headphones either.. Im using my ipod touch headphones and the audio is crystal clear.

Juice defender does help as it turns off the data connection. You can accomplish something similar by using the battery profiles on the phone to turn off data after a certain time period. The big advantage of JD is it re-enables the data connection at intervals to get push notifications.

Personally, I dont need any push notifications so I can afford to have the data connection turn off after 15 mins. If I need to check something, I just turn on the phone and check.

Welcome to the dark side...lol

It depresses the hell out of me, but I think I'll be returning mine tomorrow or the next day. I wanted to love this phone, and I think it's a good piece of hardware, but I shouldn't have to convince myself to keep it. The screen honestly isn't that much of a problem for me, but the battery life definitely is. The bigger issue is that I know the Nexus is coming and if its already hanging over my head now, it's only going to be worse after it releases.

Definitely felt the same way. I was excited about the phone but when I got it, it just seemed I was convincing myself to like it. Unfortunately I need to love all aspects of a phone if I'm going to spend $300 and use a NE2. I don't know whats coming in the future but as of right now the Bionic is just not going to cut it for me...

Wow. This phone has a 50% return rate. Even after the complete redesign. Wonder how those numbers would look had the first version at CES released. O_o

I have yet to be able to hold one (other than the stupid fake models in Best Buy). Either than didn't make enough or there are so many exchanges going on that they are consuming all the phones. I am guessing it is the former. Your battery life is impressive. Do you have any widgets on your home screens?

Yes you'll be able to keep it

Really? When I returned my Droid 3 I was told VZW will not give back the NE2 discount. So i'd have to pay full charge for the next phone I get. Luckily the store I went to was nice and did give it to me. But VZW wont anymore.

Thats false, if you return a phone it will reset your NE2. I have done this twice this year (Once with the Fascinate and once with the Bionic).

This phone had my eye, but when i got it home i took the back pff and looked under the battery and saw the bootloader was locked. Wtf. Motorola is the hitler of cell phones
