Keeping unlimited on Verizon help

I will do exactly as you say. For some reason it says its being delivered today!! One question, I do not plugin and charge before I put in sim card. I should open box and first thing I do is insert OLD sim card, then battery, then place a call to a friend, then go ahead with a full charge.

I am on a family share plan 700 mins phone w/ unlimited text...and unlimited data. This method makes no difference if on a shared family plan?

Cool. Yes. That is the correct process.

The very first thing to do is PUT OLD SIM IN NEW PHONE

Then you will install the batt.

After you power up the phone you only have to make a phone call to any friend to complete the process.



We have the same plan. The change of devices will have no impact for anyone else in your family. You will see a new updated contract date only for your line.

just got my phone the NEW sim card was already in my NEW phone.

IS that normal? No mention in any post of having to remove the NEW sim from NEW phone before inserting OLD. Just curious id this is normal???

That is odd
Check the VerizonWireless.com site and make sure it still shows your old phone for your ph# and your unlimited data plan in place.

Great. Since unlimited data is still shown and contract date changed you should be safe to go forward with the SIM swap to the old SIM.

I checked my plan this morning and took screen shots of my unlimited data info.... before I proceeded to activate

OMG I could just kiss you. First scrren said my sim card was already activated and my phone number! I did as you said, and it worked! (oops I did setup email in all the excitement as part of the first few screens of setup before I realized I hadnt called anyone first) I called my house number and call went thru. I logged on to verizon and it still shows my old phone and UNLIMITED DATA!!!!!!!!
Something it says now that it didnt say this morning is that one of my phones is eligible for a phone protection plan. I guess it sees I did something....

I know exactly how you feel. Somebody helped me get my Note3 last year. Spread the news.

The device details may eventually show your new device that is normal just make sure unlimited data remains.

Treat that new SIM like poison.

I took a piece of tape and made a flap to cover it so it could never fit in a device. Then placed it in the trash.

I have it in a ziploc and taped shut with a note not to use, after the 10 days and nothing wrong with the phone and I dont have to return it.
then I will destroy it.

Just an FYI whenever you use this process to get a new phone be sure to wait 3-5weeks before making any other changes to your plan. Changes like adding an additional line, change of billing address, etc while the the pending activation is waiting can alert Verizon to what just happened.

You can check if a pending activation is still there by logging onto verizonwirelss.com and looking at the area which shows all of your devices. You will see an alert if the activation is still pending.

Just try to avoid contacting VZW for any reason until the pending activation automatically goes away.

Verizon has Note 4 for $1 today. I tried following the BB method, but after verification I got this screen.



I selected 2 year contract and click Checkout. Next screen.



Clicked Continue. Got this screen



I entered info and agreed to terms. Clicked Send to Carrier. Next screen



Clicked Finish. Next screen. This is the last screen where I need to enter my Credit card info and submit order.



I did not get the screen where it says "Keep the same plan".

Did i do something wrong or the BB method no longer works?

You will want to select the 2-yr contract.

BestBuy.com has changed some of their screens shown during the checkout process. You are OK to complete the purchase as shown.

You contract will be extended for 2 additional years with your current plan despite what else you may have seen on the site. For example you may have been shown a maximum 2GB data plan. That plan follows the new SIM and as long as you use your current SIM you keep you current plan.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE power on the new device until you have removed the new SIM and installed your current SIM.

On the small chance you get a call or email from BestBuy saying there is a problem after you checkout remember to cancel the order and try again in a couple of days

Submitted the order yesterday, but never got the confirmation and when I check the orders on BB site there is no orders. Very strange.
