[KERNEL][GB] GingerKernel v08.1 (OC) DOUBLE-TAPPING BUG FIXED!!!

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v03 (OC)

It's an issue with stock GB/GB-based ROMs. I've been toying with using the GB libraries in CM7 (not really usable yet) and don't have that issue in that. LG really fudged this one up.

It's POSSIBLE that one or more of my changes exaggerates this issue, but the root issue is that the official GB update is really bugged.

Hmm well I'm not getting any doubletap/senstive touch issues using the original GB kernel

*has old LCD*

Same here, and I also have the old LCD.

I haven't personally noticed anything I would call a *bug* with VH yet, but I've only been using it for a few hours now.

Alright drew I have to apologize! I had made an error while partitioning my SD card. I think that was the problem getting the kernel to boot. Once I configured it correctly the kernel installed fine.

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v04 (OC)

[INFO]GingerKernel v04 Release:

I'm redoing this from the ground up. GingerKernel v04 is not MUCH different from stock, but it adds:

  1. Overclocking (BONUS: CM7 correctly detects overclocking capabilities)
  2. Includes a LowMemoryKiller patch
  3. Doesn't pretend to have a QWERTY keyboard (BONUS: CM7 SetupWizard no longer prompts you to slide out the non-existent keyboard)
  4. A lot of the touchscreen sensitivity issues seem to have subsided for now. Still needs further testing by others to confirm.

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v04 (OC)

would you guys recommend GingerKernel over XioniaRedux on Drews CM7? I seem to be on the fence on switching kernels at the moment.

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v04 (OC)

Does not boot up with gRom 1.1. freezes on lg splash screen then reboots.

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v04 (OC)

boots fine on cm7, but still the tap to turn on screen is very annoying plus only overclocks to 806mhz. other than that kernel seems to run decent.

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v04 (OC)

tried it on Drew's CM7 and it acted real weird. It would boot to the bootanimation, freeze, reboot to bootanimation (repeat 3x) then finally boot up. However it disabled my data2ext. I tried to reenable it but it told me that the service was running but inactive (whatever that means..)

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v04 (OC)

If you're having issues booting try clearing cache and dalvik-cache then re-flash. About data2ext I'm not sure what causes that, what filesystem type did you use?

I'm using a 1 GB partition on EXT4. Just a fyi i flashed back to XioniaRedux and it automatically restored the data2ext.

Booted for me on grom 1.1 no problems. No double taps yet. Will play and see if I find any issues.

Successfully running this with gROM 1.1 I did wipe all caches before flashing. This runs awesome so far. No crazy sensitive screen yet.

Re: [KERNEL][GB/CM7] GingerKernel v04 (OC)

no wipes, working fine so far on grom 1.1.5

I see the regular scaling profiles. No smartass? Running 806 no reboots or real issues. While typing sometimes I notice the screen lags for a second. Only a couple double taps much better than v03. This was a dirty flash using setcpu

Looks like ext4 isn't enabled. I'll enable it and upload a new build.

No Smartass/Smartass2 or Interactive/InteractiveX governors yet, will be in next build (later today or tomorrow).
