Keyboard disappearing while I type on my brand new Pixel 2 XL?

[Android Central Question]

I've had the phone for 5 days. I love the phone and all but this bug is just really annoying.

I have tried all of the suggested fixes that i could find such as:
- Clearing keyboard cache and data
- Changing keyboards (I get the same issue with GBoard as well as Swiftkey)
- Played around with GBoard and Swiftkey settings such as:
+ Turning off predictions
+ Turning off pattern reports.
+ etc...
- Factory Reset (I did this twice)

My OS and apps are also all up to date.

Any Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL users experiencing this issue too?

Also, would Google send me a replacement for something like this?

Welcome to Android Central! The possibility of accidentally pressing Back or Home is probably increased due to the smaller bezels, so it's a very legitimate question that @A Bochur is asking.

Sorry for the late response. I managed to get my phone replaced by talking to a Google representative. Unfortunately the problem still persists... This is very frustrating. I have not been hitting the back button. I know this because whatever is behind the keyboard gets pressed when it disappears.

This is leading me to believe that it may be an issue with the OS. I can't be the only one with this issue, right? 2 brand new phones... Both have the same issue!

I was the one that posted the issue btw. I posted it before making an official account. I revisited the post after encountering the same issue with the new phone.

Well this is embarrassing... It turns out that the part of the palm underneath my left thumb was accidentally hitting the back button when I would reach across the keyboard. I switched to a smaller keyboard to avoid this happening. I hope anyone reading this with this issue will learn from my stubbornness. You most likely are hitting the back button. WATCH OUT FOR THE PALM!
