I'm going to throw this out there. I hope to be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet that pre-sales don't begin until Sept. 8th. it's 4 days before the 1st and we have yet to hear a confirmation in public from Moto or Verizon. The website still says nothing more than "September" and the ad campaign doesn't seem to have rolled out fully.

I'm going to call it; Formal announcement this week.....pre-sale on the 8th and in stores on the 15th.

Hope I'm wrong.....BB on last legs!

This doesn't mean anything. Like I said in another thread, they will probably announce the device the same day they go on pre-sale, just like they did with the Droid 3.

Anyway to OP: I agree that the lack of any official word from VZW or Moto to this point is making me second guess the 9/1 pre-order / 9/8 launch date... However as said before VZW has done it all last minute before with the D3 and other devices, though then you can argue that this big of a device should have been announced by now if it were going on pre order this week... basically all we can do is speculate. You aren't going to get a single response in here that isn't just speculation at this point, so all we can do is sit tight and know it will be available sometime this month.

There is no verified check on the account. Verizon and Moto are not following it. There are numerous grammatical errors in the tweets. As someone stated earlier, go tweet Moto yourself about it.

If you really wanted the Bionic this long, chances are they have been following it up til now.

If someone was thinking about changing carriers to get the Bionic, they probably are following the online stories also.

To the "non-tech", this is just going to be "another phone".

Everyone else either bought a phone already, or know what they are waiting for (iphone 5, etc..)

There's really no need to go crazy advertising this phone (its not groundbreaking technology...) in advance.
And before you say dual core + LTE is groundbreaking, please reread the post. The people that care about those details are already paying attention. Everyone else has no idea what that means

Also, if you gave in and bought a different phone...Verizon doesn't care. They still have you locked in for 2 years. And if you want to return the phone and pay the restocking fee--you just put more money in Verizon's pocket.

Well, the lack of any official word or big advertising campaign as of yet, for what I expect to be a BIG device for VZW, seems a bit suspicious to me and makes me wonder if its coming out next week or what. But you could be correct, maybe they're just going to hold off until people can go right on and pre-order it. The optimistic and impatient parts of me certainly hopes you are right

Even if I had no idea what I was looking for in a phone, if a rep told me I could have twice the processing power and LTE with the Bionic for the same price as the Charge... well.. I wouldn't go with the charge. Some people are going to say they don't need all of that extra stuff, but there are a lot of people who want to get the best phone currently out (even non-techies love to brag about their stuff), and when they see advertisements for the Bionic and ask the reps about comparable devices, the Bionic is going to win. The rep isn't going to say, "Well you could get the Bionic for $299 now, but there is a better device you should wait for in a month or so." They also aren't going to say, "The Bionic has twice the processing power and LTE for $299, but we also have this nice 3G device for free." He's going to push the new product.

It's been stated before that people who want the iPhone are going to buy the iPhone, but if you want Android, Moto will have an exclusive dual-core + LTE advantage over other manufacturers until they can catch up. Marketing is important. Just ask Apple. And you also give too little credit to general consumers. Most know tech well enough that 2 processors is better than 1 processor, and 4G is better than 3G.

Also, if the phone is indeed not released on 9/8, how many complaints of ANOTHER DELAY should we expect to see in the forums?

Point being to everyone: The ONLY thing so far as of right now confirmed by VZW or Moto is that the Bionic will launch in SEPTEMBER. No use complaining or speculating until one of those companies gives us a more official announcement. And when that comes you'll probably find it on one of their sites or in email from VZW (if you signed up for those), not on Twitter. Probably.

The only thing i'd be even REMOTELY happy about if they delayed the pre-orders until the 8th or later would be the fact that i wouldn't have to hate myself for not waiting 6 days (till the 7th) so I could save the additional $30-$50 'loyalty discount'. The date for mine is Sep 7th but i'm such an impatient person i'd rather eat the $$, get it pre-ordered and be using my shiney new Bionic on the 7th/8th. If they force me to wait until the 8th to pre-order I dont have to seem quite as ridiculous

They did the same thing when they promised froyo on the x in summer, and it didn't come out tell the last day of summer. Moto is known for running tell the last minute.

September in general is already the very end of the summer, and a lot of people count August as the end of summer. September, in business though, is the last month of summer. I wouldn't put it past them to put the phone out a little later into september, but we've seen SO many leaks for the 8th, I just want to believe it's the 8th.
