True, and I hope you're right. I really hope you're right. However, we saw "so many leaks" for Aug. 4th too. I mean, how many guys were sitting up on that last Thursday in July waiting for the pre-order they were sure was coming?

Regardless of what is "considered summer" or not, there ARE three Thursdays left in the summer and it could launch on any on of those without Motorola missing it's promised window (for a second time).

Yeah, but there weren't as many leaks for August 4th (I was one of those people btw ahaha). And my post did say that it was possible for them to launch for the rest of the month, but I was explaining that if they wait out too long they won't be in summer anymore. So we're hoping to see it announced thursday, since we've seen a ton of rumblings about it coming out next thursday.

Personally, my last two Androids have been HTC... and after seeing the delays for the Thunderbolt... so now I'm glad to see that HTC is not the only large company to have issues with delivering a new device... but my wife needs a new smartphone, so we are looking at the Bionic. This will give me a look at some of the newest Motorola devices to see if one could work for me sometime after the new year.

Even though the tweet from DriodBionic has been claimed to be a fake by both Motorola and Verizon... I'm still hoping to see the new device by Sept 8th. I'm thinking this is a good date since the device is already on their website.

It likely is the date. It's was on the leaked roadmap, there have been CSRs who have dropped that date, it fits in the September and "early Septemeber" window, etc., etc.

Honestly, despite all the delays on launching a device named the "Bionic" I feel very comfortable saying it will likely be launching the 8th.

Why do people still insist on saying things like "all the delays?" There has only been one delay. Just one. Not multiple, not "all the delays" exactly one delay. geez

....the only thing that was delayed was SOME phone with the Droid Bionic brand name. The phone due in the Spring, Etna, was scraped and a device internally called "Targa" was given the Bionic monicer because it's too good a name do drop. For all we know, this Targa device would have been released sometime in the 3rd or 4th quarter as something else.

The CES phone is gone, dead, forgotten. What's coming is something never announced or talked about before.

A name was delayed, a phone was scraped.

And since I still have the Bionic at the top of my list (pending more info on the rumored "DROID Prime", I for one couldn't be more PLEASED that the "CES Bionic" is dead.....when it was first announced, the spec list certainly had my attention, but the look of the phone was completely lackluster IMO...mostly the fact that it looked exactly like the Atrix.....never have liked the look of that phone.

I agree about the CES Bionic. I've been waiting for the Targa for quite a while. I was left largely unimpressed by the Etna Bionic. It actually upsets me a little that they kept the name for the Targa. So much negative connotation for a completely innocent phone!

Webtop is an application on the phone that, when connected to an appropriate device (such as the Lapdock or Webtop adapter), will display a 'linux like' environment that has a full Firefox browser as well as a few other things. The lapdock is an all-in-one solution. The Lapdock is nothing more than a keyboard, touchpad, LCD, and a battery without having any Operating System whatsoever. When you snap your phone into it, the phone displays on the LCD instead and you have this nice 11 or so inch display in which you can use 'as a laptop' for limited functions.

The webtop adapter is similar as it also allows the webtop application to run but it will merely give you an HDMI port that you can plug into another monitor/TV. If you want a keyboard/mouse to go with it you would have to have your own Bluetooth keyboard/mouse.

The main function of the Webtop app is to get you a full Firefox browser and have a large display in which you can use it on. The lapdock just makes it portable (and it also has 2 usb ports on it so you can plug additional USB devices in if you'd like) as well as having, from what i've read, 8 hours of battery life and it can also charge your phone while using it.

Honestly, you're getting really into semanitcs. Technically in launching this version of the Bionic there have been ZERO delays, since this is the Targa not the Etna.

Hence why I wrote:

Before you guys jump down my throat - I've argued the same point that the Targa Bionic is right on schedule. But my point was merely that the launch of a phone called the "Bionic" was delayed. Sorry I wrote "all the delays" - while I try to write in a nice style when posting on a message board I will use colloquial language and expressions. I will be sure to enforce a strict interpretation of your every post in the future if you so desire.

I understand the point they were making, but it was clear from the context of my post that I was simply saying people had been waiting for a similar type of phone since CES. I can get overly technical too, so, I understand, but felt like I had to be a little defensive, maybe overly so.

The only thing i'd be even REMOTELY happy about if they delayed the pre-orders until the 8th or later would be the fact that i wouldn't have to hate myself for not waiting 6 days (till the 7th) so I could save the additional $30-$50 'loyalty discount'. The date for mine is Sep 7th but i'm such an impatient person i'd rather eat the $$, get it pre-ordered and be using my shiney new Bionic on the 7th/8th. If they force me to wait until the 8th to pre-order I dont have to seem quite as ridiculous

if you're referring to the NE2 discount, if you ask nicely VZW will allow you to use it earlier.. it might require a manager's approval but i was able to use mine more than a month earlier than the stated date.

Ahh, excellent. Thats exactly what i'm talking about. If they release it prior to 9-7-2011 then i guess i'll see if they'll let me use it early
