no idea when it will be , captivate has had froyo for months leaked, but still no official version..

is this easy,,that is subjective, I think its easy

Does this have to do with connecting odin to phone? Flash red cwr with pda, then flash dl30 with pda?

no you dont flash DL30 with PDA,,after you flash red cwm then you boot into recovery select install zip from sdcard>choose zip file>select DL30-leak.zip>yes >reboot> and you are Froyo'd

Oh okay, Sounds simple. What are the chances of getting stuck in boot or epic force closes. If so, easy to fix?

Just wondering, did you do the new CWR flash from XDA, and then after everything booted, click "Flash Clockwork Recovery" and then reselect Samsung Facinate and try throught there? THat was the only way i got CWR to work for me.

Nah the green one. I did this:

1) Opened ROM Manager
2) Clicked install ROM from SD
3) Choose the VVM.zip file.
4) Asked me if I wanted to wipe/backup - I said no
5) It booted into recovery and gave me an error.
6) I used recovery to navigate to the zip on the SD card and tried again. This time it worked.

I'm assuming people could accomplish the same thing by just doing the Volume +/- plus power button method to get into recovery and just do step 6 with no errors.

i dont have any statistics but it happens, it happened to me today. 1 of 4 times i went back and forth to froyo

both can be fixed with a odin flash back to stock and try again

I can't seem to make that work. Is there a specific place on the notification bar that needs to be pressed and held? Does it still work if using LauncherPro instead of default launcher?

Just downloaded ADW to try. Good news is that it works with ADW launcher, bad news is I've managed to break my Market. Now I can't download anything as it shows like it's going to download and then disappears. Was gonna try LauncherPro but guess that's a bust. lol

A couple of people have been reporting problems with texting. Did you use the "New" Clockwork Recovery from XDA or the one from this thread?

Droid X, Is this easy to do? You know how I am when it comes to this ****. If I cant do it or dont want to, how long you think untill froyo push, week?

I did my first flash to Froyo today and had no real issues. I just got my phone a few weeks ago and I am still VERY new to all this.

Here is what I did:
1. Rooted so I could do a TI Backup of all my apps
2. Installed update.zip to the root of my SD card
3. Added the DL30 zip file to the rot of my SD card
4. Booted into Red recovery mode and ran update.zip
5. Ran DL30 zip file

I think I did something with Odin in between one of those steps but I honestly can't remember what.

If anyone could tell me if I should have done it another way I would appreciate it. I am still learning and want to get real proficient.

No need to root unless you are backing up all your apps. I would do the DL09 update before you update to Froyo.

i applied the zip from SD card and my phone has been booting for 10 mins or so..bottom buttons are lit but nothing is happening. i'm gonna try to boot again and see if it gets past this screen..what should i do if not?

Even though you not FC, still follow the 4 steps at the bottom of post #1 under the FC heading.

If you were using AppBrain before and you were syncing with Appbrain, then download, and install it from the Market and sign-in again. Then do a sync. I've found that free apps in particular never show up in the Markets "My Downloads" list. The only way to get them back is either search for them in the Market, or if you're using AppBrain, bring them all back that way.

+1 for AppBrain. It makes getting anything I had installed on my phone that was a free app 10x easier (and faster).

Ok so i did it never have i flashed anything before but i did itonly thing is my tw lancher is force closing but i use lp so dont really care just happy i didnt f up my phone
