Let's guess how long our JB official OTA will take!

Considering it took 8 hours for my mother/father to update to iOS6 (because of download times, etc.), I'd almost prefer Verizon's method :)

What a ridiculous statement to say you would rather wait months to get an update so you don't have to deal with slow download times for a few hours. A great example of why this forum is trash lately.

I believe my colleague was being facetious. And nobody is forcing you to participate in the forums.. if you aren't finding any value here you are welcome to leave :)

Excuse me?

I said I'd rather wait for a slow release time (since the OTA was only available for update a couple of days ago) than have it work like Apple does it, with everyone downloading at the same time causing (1) failed downloads, (2) ridiculously long download times, and (3) general impatience and anxiety.

I said nothing about the "Android" update process in general. I was only referring to the fact that Verizon releases the update in fragmented roll outs (although they pull from Google servers), which I find to be a more inefficient method than Apple's "Hey let's have at 'em." Having been through each of the systems, I prefer Verizon's (well, Sprint's, since I unlocked my phone months ago and the only phone I've updated while on Android is my fiancee's toroplus).

And above all, the smiley face? It means sarcasm.

Because the servers were busy. Took me less than 15 mins on launch night for my iPad.

I'm ready for jelly bean already.

Yup. Took me 4 hours to upgrade to iOS4, 3 hours to upgrade to iOS5. The latter included a free wipe, and why I don't know. Regardless, they need better servers if they want to roll it out in one shebang.

Yes. As if apple sets it up that way. Lol.

Well I don't think they mean for it be so slow, but clearly their infrastructure can not handle that rush for hours on end. A delayed/fragmented roll out solves that, albeit with the obvious tradeoff of having to wait to be prompted.

What's the install rate of JB?

What's your point? I made a sarcastic comment, but one backed by a real preference based upon my own experiences. This will not devolve into some absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary Apple v. Android thread. We have enough of those.

If you want to continue on this topic, pm me or start a more appropriate topic. My apologies, but I did not expect a sarcastic reply to be taken this far and this literally. :)

I was asking a serious question. Sheesh. Calm down.

Two days. I've done all the tricks and still nothing. So aggravating! Maryland
