LG F6 sd card erases on insert

I had an issue with my SD Card, it would unmount/mount on its own.
To correct, I removed my SD Card and copied the data onto my PC, and reformatted the card. (Fat32)
When completed I copied the data back to the card and inserted it into my phone.
But the issue is that when I look at the storage card, it is empty, showing 14.83GB total space/free space (16GB card)
Using File Manager to look at it, the only folders are Andriod, DCIM, LGBackup, LOST.DIR....
the ones that I copied over to it are not there.

Any ideas on what caused this and how to prevent this from occurring?

It could be possible that the files weren't actually moved over, or possibly, moved to the internal SD Card and not the external one. Check to see if that's the case. Do you have the backup still saved on your computer just in case?
