LG G3 Android M (6.0)

Mine is eating battery like crazy. No matter reset yet, but it's just screaming down

Backup your data first (I use Verizon Cloud to backup my data, LG's backup in Settings-Backup & Reset to backup my homescreens and my game apps/score; but you can backup everything to an sd card, which is cool). After any major update, I perform the alternate version of the Factory Reset from a powered down state.

Ensure the device is power off.

*If screen is frozen,*remove/reinsert battery.Press and hold the*Volume Down buttonthen press and hold the*Power button. When the System recovery screen is displayed, release both buttons.Select*Factory data reset.
*Utilize the Volume buttons to highlight and the Power button to select.Select*Yes.
*Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.

And BTW, I have not received the OTA notice to update. I just ran the Software Upgrade Assistant for LG from Verizon, and it's not there either. Curious about that. Usually Verizon puts the update on the Software Upgrade Assistant when it's starts being available for download OTA.

I am getting many lies from boost mobile telling me my lg g3 doesnt get an ota update for marshmallow. Lg says they do. Now boost says google sends ota 6.0 to the lg g3 update. Whos lying. Help me. Tired of lies. Who pushes ota on my ls990/

Boost pushes the update if and when they decide to release it

Wow, you guys are getting stressed about this. I have a AT&T version of the G3 and I am running MM. But I sure as heck didn't get it from AT&T. Root and Custom Rom. I remember these days of waiting.

It might be the end of summer or towards the end of year for most G3 users besides Verizon get it, if ever. They are just hoping you will just upgrade to the new G5. This is how they push you. Really, MM has a couple improvements, but really, it isn't that big of a deal.

Finally got the Marshmallow OTA on my Verizon G3. Performed the update, then alternate version of Factory Reset. Got my Homescreen restored from LG Backup. So far so good. Things seems perkier, as my G3 was running sluggish (which recent Factory Resets did not cure). We shall see.

Ordered 2 of the LG G3 phones from Verizon last year and just yesterday updated to the Marshmallow update. This update has eliminated the GESTURES options in settings to allow the phone to be answered by simply placing the phone to the ear. Only way now is to perform the swipe function which is very unsafe IMO for my 65 yr. old wife driving down the road doing this. I called Verizon and they replied call LG or the Android folks since it is out of their hands. I assure you i will NO longer be purchasing any Android equipped cell phone that cares so little about public safety when driving, to remove the various gesture options for answering calls. Thousands of folks do not drive vehicles equipped with Bluetooth so please do not respond with remedies that resolve nothing for alot of people. The apps on the Playstore have most all been totally useless regarding phone answering options all the way back to Kit Kat, so please dont mention these junky apps either.

So when will an update be brought forth to rectify and restore the Gestures feature alot of users enjoyed.

Regards, Ron

OH MY DIDNT KNOW THAT.tried for hrs to get boost to answer that, and maybe the cya and didnt wanna tell me its off of sprints network.as you said, if i got it right even though model is sprint and carrier is boost, sprint pushes it.ota marshmallow.ty.:-*

Maybe is a setting that needs to be activate it, did you searched for it?... I have a G3 with lollipop (T-Mobile) and we don't have the marshmallow upgrade yet.

Can someone please explain why Verizon doesn't even give you an option as to whether or not we do these OS upgrades? I restarted my phone and it started downloading MM without even asking. For all the talk of more freedom on Android I call B'S when the average consumer doesn't get a say. (Don't get in to flash and and that, I'm taking about people who don't want something that worked perfect out of the box just changing when it wants to).

My wife absolutely loved the G3 when we bought them back when they came out and now these forced 'upgrades' have really changed her mind. I'm not a big fan either but I've made it work (not big on it tho). Why in the world are we not given choice in this?

Ron,

Your wife, nor anyone, should be holding a phone up to their ear while driving! If you don't have bluetooth (there are hundreds of inexpensive bluetooth FM transmitters BTW) then DO NOT USE THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING! Some states police will pull you over and give you a ticket for this as it is an UNSAFE practice that has caused accidents and deaths. No phonecall while driving is that important that it cant wait if you dont have hands free capability.

Any idea how to change the folder icons (without an app)? My icons were circles before and now they're squares. I feel like I was able to change this option before, but maybe not? It's been so long lol.

What about the phone speakers... When I drive I use the phone speakers and it works very well for me. I don't need to use any Bluetooth device.

Ron, I know you are a grown man and don't need to be preached at and can decide for yourself what is your best solution. What I have found works for me is a blue tooth speaker phone that I clip to my visor. Call comes in all I do is hit the big button in front of my face. No taking my eyes off the road. Also the phone can read text messages out loud. Just don't buy a cheap one. I think I paid $80.

I concur that you should not be bringing phone to ear while driving, and I betcha that was their programming change intention. Use Bluetooth. However, it is possibly handy just picking up the phone to answer in general. Is not a deal breaker for possible one of my favorite phones to date!

Got it here in NW ARK. Now my Amazon apps won't work. Oh well. And where did the running apps list go in app manager?

or, you know, you could not talk on the phone while you're driving...pull off the road and talk, hang up and get back on the road
