LG G3 spec and poster revealed

Re: LG's official poster spotted

Except there will always be something better than what you end up buying. True story.
Who is arguing that?
[Removed by Moderator]

And the 808 / 810 chipset is not in the pipe "today"
But the 805 CPu and 420 GPu "are" in the pipe and "are" coming soon to a Prime device near you.

That's the difference.

No Way.. would I get saddled with spending $700.00 on an obsolete chipset. LG just blew it.. if they had stuck with the normal yearly fall release cycle, they would be just fine.. but Noooo... they wanted to catch up with Samsung & HTC and are now paying the price with a soon to be (ok) but older chipset than the competition in a brand new *Flagship* device.

Understood.
You're Wrong... and I'm Right.
There was NEVER any doubt of that..
Hey.. The G3 is a BEAUTIFUL , capable phone for sure.. if you want the G3 and can live with the specs.. go for it but they are inferior specs compared to the upcoming prime:
The 805 will have 15% better performance.
The 420 GPu will have ***40%*** better performance than the Adreno 330 ( That's not [inappropriate language removed by moderators] that's Qualcomm speaking )
The 420 will be the 1st capable of PS3 level graphics.
The 805 was DESIGNED from the ground up for 4K devices (Q-HD)
The 801 was a tweaking of the Snapdragon 800.. and still uses Krait 400 chips.
The 805 uses the newer Krait 450 chips.
The S5 Prime has already gone through Bluetooth Certification.. :-) it's very real.

It is what it is.. and LG blew it. if specs mean anything to the buyer.. if not, and you can live with having 2013 specs in a $700.00 2014 device you're good!

I think I've proven my point

It's case closed, not cased closed.
If information is correct both Prime's will not make it to the states. The radio issues and heat issues are most likely the reason.
So I think your point is not proven, especially when you say LG blew it.
I will enjoy my 5.5" 2k phone of the year either way.
Sorry for butting in...

By the way they are 2014 specs! No phone had these specs in 2013.

G3 would not improve upon G2 when talking about gaming or other GPU intensive tasks.period.
Everything else time will tell.

Edit: I am assuming it will use S801 with 2k display here

Time will tell for sure. The phone isn't even out yet. Period...lol
Take a look back a year ago, or 2 years ago. The evolution of the smart phone, tablets etc... And everyone is [inappropriate language removed by moderators] more now than ever.
Everyone knows more and think they should design and engineer these cell phones, but how many on here do?
We have had more specs and pics thrown at us "true or false" that we have no idea what or how it will perform.
Silly

First of all thanks for pointing out the typo.. my bad..
Eh... the Adreno 330 is in the Note 3.. which was on the drawing boards about this time last year.
The 801.. is just a warmed over 800 with the same Krait 400 chips.. The 805 has the newer Krait 450 chips.
Heat Issues with what? what are you talking about??? both Primes have heat issues.. LOL !!!!
Boy.. your STRECTING to find fault.. too funny ! Eh... care to provide a LINK to this "Won't make it to the states because of Heat Issues" ?
Dude.. you don't have to convince me... you have to convince YOURSELF..
I 've shown you the facts... The 805 with it's 420 GPu WAS DESIGNED BY QUALCOMM for what will be the 2K 1440P Prime devices from Samsung and HTC.
That's a fact. I'm not making this up as I go.. :-)
Like I've said over and over in this thread if "you" can convince yourself that the $700.00 "you spend" on a device that has a chipset that was not even designed to optimize that 1440P display and pass up a chipset that by *Qualcomm's Own Words" WAS designed for these new flagship specs, then you have no problems..
I've presented enough information to prove my point.. 40% overall BETTER Graphics Performance in the 420 GPu over the Adreno 330 in the LG -G3.
That should tell you something about Qualcomm's requirements for smooth performance right there..
after my post showing everyone *The Light* if you STILL want to pull the trigger on a G3 buy all means do so... Like I said, you have convince yourself you made a wise $700.00 investment... because you certainly are not going to convince me that it's a wise choice from a performance stand point. Exhibit "A" and "B" posted by me a few comments back sum it up well enough. LG has to release their own Prime in the fall just to pull back even with Samsung and HTC.
Now..
You all feel free to continue on with the thread.. I wanted to prove my point with visual and verbal evidence to back up my opinion.
Enjoy your G3..:-)

Fact is if it has S801 with 2k resolution display then it will be disappointing regarding gaming or graphic intensive tasks (when compared to G2) and that's something I won't want on my phone.

Do I need repeat myself again :)

The announcement is 5 days away.. so basically it's here...
Qualcomm themselves told you how the 801 vs 805 will preform.. * 15% better overall.. 40% better in graphics.*
Nuff Said.. :-)

Good for you. Your mama must be proud :)

I'm still right when I say there's always something better coming out. You'll act the same later this year and next year when better processors come out.

Bored much?

Out of every forum I have ever read this G3 forum is by far the worst. Every thread results in two little kids arguing in some fashion. We are all here for one reason and that is to share our excitement about Android or this device. Not to bash someone else or day this phone is [inappropriate language removed by moderators] because it doesn't have your special spec. All of you need to grow up.

Enjoy your G3..:-)

The 330 is also in the G2. If the G3 comes with the 801/330, they are upgraded, like the 600 to 800 chips were. The 801 has radio on chip. The 805 doesn't. Hence if the prime's run with the 805, I don't believe they will hit the states, other than in tablet form.
And like you, I read but maybe more thorough. The 805 seems to run hotter and thermal throttling will increase unless it is used in tablets with more air flow. The amount of thermal throttling with the 800 in the g2 and note 3 times 2 if the G3 running an 805. So much for your gaming huh.
I do understand the differences between the 2 different SOCs and GPUs, and I am a power geek. But I also understand the down falls of it also.
I bet LG, Samsung, Motorola and HTC know and understand better than you and I will ever know.
If a CPU/GPU combo is ready for the real world these companies will have them installed, if not they won't. If you don't like it go play somewhere else!
Or you can be a hypocrite and buy the G3 when it comes out and enjoy it. This goes for the ones that are crying about LG blowing it on the G3. I bet money you guys complain about every phone that comes out.
PS. Good luck getting an S5 prime in the states!

So.... Are games actually rendered in 2k? The Xbox One and ps4 already have difficulty running games at 1080p (running games at lower res natively) . I imagine Android games are just being "scaled" to the phones resolution regardless. I'd like to know if there are any games even being rendered in 1080p on Android. I feel like only things rendering content at 2k (if at all) are benchmarks.

Re: LG's official poster spotted

I'm sorry, but I must have missed Samsungs official announcement of the S5 Prime. When did they debut it and when did they say it will be available for purchase?
No need to apologize..
You did not miss a thing.. If you want the G3 it's available 5-28-14.. it's just that.. LG blew it, and built a "Tweener" device that's early enough to have the 1440P display but unfortunately will be stuck with last years hardware to power it. ( The warmed over Snapdragon 800 chipset with upgraded power saving modes that is comprised of 4 Krait 400 CPu's and the Ardeno 330 GPu .. all last year's technology and has been rebranded the 801) so if you're ok with last years tech in this years phone your good to go with the G3!
Samsung and HTC chose to wait for the mass production of the new 805 chipset to power their upcoming Prime devices. Qualcomm ( The Chipset Maker ) States that the 805 chipset has 15% better system performance and 40% better GPu performance with the new Krait 450 CPu's and Adreno 420 GPu.. and the 805 was designed to power the new 1440P (2K) resolution standard according to Qualcomm. here is a link to the video..

U feel better now RaiderWill?

You should ask that question to the sad folks that I have enlightened.. I'm great !
Wouldn't you rather know the truth about what your getting into? people act like I burst their $700.00 bubble.
I'm waiting on the Prime..:-) No way am I throwing $700.00 at last years technology!
Hell.. I own a G-Pad 8.3.. :-) and love it.. I REALLY wanted to match it up with a G3..
But LG really got caught between a rock and a hard place when the bumped up their release cycle to match Samsung and HTC's release cycle.. compile that with wanting to get a jump on them with 1440P resolution, they were force to use the same 801 chipset that's in the standard S5 & M8.
Fatal flaw if Samsung and HTC push that fact in the form of advertising.. The G3 will run fine (although pushed now having to push a lot more pixels) with the 801.. it's just the 805 would have been a much better match for 2K.. The average user with average needs will never know the difference and have a great looking device.. The knowledgeable power user when looking at the incredible specs of the 805 chipset, will kick themselves for jumping too soon.. Just like the standard S5 owners are already doing with the announcement of the S5 Prime.. whether it and the M8 Prime come in June, July or August.. They are coming.
