LG G3 Verizon 5.0.1

Did you have to root your phone first to get this to work? If you use this update, will you continue to get future updates from Verizon?

Actually, if you are rooted not only will the OTA update destroy your root access, it will probably fail to update the phone.

Just did the update via the steps found on the Reddit post. It took roughly 30 minutes or so to complete. I am hoping this update fixes notification issues I have while connected to Wifi.

Just did the update following the Reddit post and all went well. Do I need to delete the SoftwareUpdate folder and patch file now? Will it impact future updates if I don't?

Well crap! What are my options here? Been having issues with the voicemail app and other errors come up. is there an easy way to get back to VS985_12b?

Ive been having problems with the voicemail as well :/ it crashes on me every time I open it so I can't even use it anymore. Another weird thing is my Instagram doesn't load properly either. Other than that everything is perfect and the phone has never felt better

I ended up having to flash the phone back to VS985_12b and that fixed it. Sucks, but it cleared up all the issues. Hopefully Verizon will finally push out the update this week so if any issues occur they will at least support it.

Sorry to hear about the issues some of you are having. I guess I have been fortunate as I've had zero bugs, and the phone feels a bit more fluid. Using the Google Now launcher probably helps a bit, and I like the "stock" look. I also like the fact that, apparently, our version has better functionality than AT&Ts, which limits lock screen notifications to two, with no expandability. I'm impressed so far. Silly there hasn't been an official OTA.

Having issue with Android Device Manager after update. It will not locate my device when connected on WIFI. Turn off WIFI and it finds it right away.

So a word to the wise, I wouldn't update, if your phone's working perfectly. I'm on 12B rooted and there's no way I'm going to 5.0. No way. 12B fixed all the problems I was having before and it's completely stable for me.

If you do upgrade, get a ROM that is stable. Not only will you get all the benefits of Lollipop, you can skirt the weird bugs on the official that is slowly updated. If there are bugs, updates from ROM developers are way faster than official.

The VZW employee probably meant the HTC M8 update that pushed this week. He doesn't know the difference between the phones!

Well looks like we can discredit this VZW employees claim ??????
