LG G3 - Widespread reports of cracks appearing at the microphone port

I wouldnt call this a wide spread issue either. Not saying its not an issue....but definitely not wide spread.

I have the problem, babied my phone since it was new, case on the same day, never dropped it...I started noticing the headphone jack causing issues first....plug in any set of headphones and the songs would change/pause if you moved or wiggled it...so I looked and there was the hairline crack running through the microphone hole as others have too. Have to find a loaner phone before I can send it in and let them look at it.

Quick, everybody jump ship now because the plastic has tiny cracks! lmao.

Mine has no cracks BTW. And it's been in a Bodyglove Rise since day one, and it's not coming out, ever.

I think "hairline crack" jokes are in order, but I fear the ban.

So I emailed LG and I got a standard "mail it back and let us look at it" reply. The person who responded had no knowledge of LG responding to this issue. I'm starting to wonder if the acknowledgement was actually written by someone at LG.

Re: Widespread reports of cracks appearing at the microphone port

I've had my AT&T G3 since launch, 2 months, 14 days. I've dropped it once in the case in the garage (concrete floor). I regularly pop it in and out of its case which I assume causes some flex. I even tried a bit of an iPhone 6 bend test today (it didn't want to bend so I didn't force it to). The photos below were taken about 10 minutes before I posted this. It's a phone not a tank but even as a phone, it seems pretty well made. So far I am really enjoying the G3 (love the camera). I look forward to using it with Android L.

Mine is also sn# starting with 407...no issues. I had the phone a week with no case, but now have it in a Spigen slim armor case.

For those with cracks...just got the Ringke slim case in today, gorgeous case/good fit, covers up the crack nicely..just a thought for $8. Also, replacement front panels can be found on ebay if you/someone you know want's to just change it out....in case LG never responds.

I noticed the crack today. Lg has no idea what I'm talking about .att said if lg doesn't help you no one can. Or they said they can make a warranty case for $200

lg said well look at it, but there's a 21 day turn around.

I just both the phone maybe 45 days ago

I have the 407. Att won't help.
Wow. You think I'd buy another g3 phone after this? Nope.

I can't help but wonder how many "cracks" ate actually a line from the brushed metal application on the plastic. I have what looks like just the brushed metal, but I can see where someone might think it is a crack.

**** have crack too. Haha

Edit: The censor mark makes me feel dirty. All I said was the word you would use for the piece that's left when you're done with your cigarette. I'm going to go wash my mouth out with soap now. :D

Tmobile.com Day One G3 user and I have a crack by the bottom microphone, huge and noticeable. A slight crack by the IR Blaster. I thought this phone was solid, but alas I'm jumping back to a Lumia or HTC Model next time around. ALSO, to the post a few above me, it isn't brushed metal leakage. I can fit a piece of paper in the lower Mic crack.

After being unable to get a clear response from LG, I spoke to a T-Mobile store guy who understood what was going on, and he said he would let me use a warranty replacement. It sucks, but it's better than sending my phone to LG and hoping for a positive response. The phone works fine, I'll only exchange it of the guy at the store says I can't use jump with a crack on my phone.

I don't know how widespread this is, but seems to be pretty common from my experience. I was unaware of the problem prior, I purchased 4 used G3's, one was manufactured in June, 2 in July and 1 in August, I've noticed the small hairline cracks in all four.
