LG G4 H815 Android Marshmallow update rollout and initial impressions

In order to clear some issues I was having I did update to MM using a KDZ file that's available on-line. One quick question: software version is now "OPT2-HQ" My international H815 used to be "TWN" which I think is Taiwan. What is OPT2? Does it matter?

Yes, still waiting for US update. I guess they forgot one of their biggest market.

Most of the phones in the U.S. are carrier branded. So once LG first releases an update to the carriers, they then add their own touches before releasing it to users. I think the U.S. often lags when it comes to updates. The relatively few people on non-carrier phones may get it a little sooner, but I don't have any experience with them.

Took these tonight. Definitely looking as good as I was getting on L. The camera lag is my only issue with M now.

Good deal! Too bad about the camera lag though. I use it as much as texting lol

I have the Sprint variant with M. Wondering if any of you have noticed if the temperature calibration of your battery seems to be incorrect?

I run my screen at 50% without auto brightness. My battery shoots up to 100° or more just by using the phone. When using it in my car for navigation it shot up to 115°. But, when I took it off my mount, it didn't feel that hot. I actually took my case and back of the phone off and physically touched the battery. Sure it felt warm, but no way did it feel like 115°.

Just curious if Marshmallow for the G4 (at least Sprint's release) , might have a bug in it.

So after about a month on MM and two factory reset battery life seems OK now. It's says am getting 4 to 5 hours SOT and between 13 to 17 hours usage on battery. It does drain extremely quickly once I start using my phone though. I have lots of things disabled to get to where I am. I can't post screenshots as i need more post count so when i do i will post my screen shots.

Going from a Sony Xperia Z1 to the G4 has not been a fairytale story as far as I'm concerned.

Battery life seems very bad in comparison, stabilty is not good at all.

The days that it is working though, it's magnificent. Camera are the best I've seen.

If the problems that I see with the phone does not better with the M update, I'm starting to doubt the G4, or Android as a whole. I haven't had the opportunity to try the other flag ships on Android, but does anyone know if they have the same type of problems with L and M? My Z1 was on Kitkat and was smooth sailing. After I upgraded that one to 5.1 it started having the issues that I also see with the G4. So I downgraded that one again and gave it to my gf. Other than the fact that the screen is a hell of a lot better on the G4, the Sony is still operating much better than the G4.

And that should not be the case when you spend a good amount of cash on it if you ask me..

Nice, cant wait for the update here in the UK. And nice wallpapers :P

What was that clock widget called?

Why are yall waiting for bad battery usage? I wouldn't want this update?

H815 Euro used in New England, United States.

Attempted once more an OTA (with no success) followed by a connection to LG Bridge where I again told it to update the software. Strike three. Next batter.

How would the battery life be bad? M is supposed to do the oposite unless you disabled all optimisations and it would be the same as lolipop

I'm getting over 4 hours screen time and over 15 hours total on a charge on MM. Bluetooth and GPS always on, everything syncing, Wear permanently connected, screen at 40% brightness.

Just updated my TWN version H815 to V20b, and I can confirm that the battery life is definitely worse than before. I even got burning hot at first before I reset it. The battery still drains quicker than before after uninstalled a lot of apps and soft reset. Is going to do a Hard Reset tonight and hopefully it gets better.

For those who still waiting for MM, better hold it before a V20c version comes out. Otherwise you're very likely to be disappointed.

Can the people who have Marshmallow 6.0 confirm their model G4, carrier, and geographic area? Thanks!

Then why do people nearby me who own the European version H815 have the Marshmallow update as far back as a month ago and I don't?
