LG G4 H815 Android Marshmallow update rollout and initial impressions

Then why do people nearby me who own the European version H815 have the Marshmallow update as far back as a month ago and I don't?

The updates are sent out in batches, most likely to not overload the servers. I have heard of people on other phones that, for whatever reason, didn't get an OTA update and had to talk to their carrier to have it forced to them. That's been rare, though.

I've downloaded and installed LGUP. But when I checkout the XDA page it says the update is for the H81520B. Howcan I tell which version I have? All I can see is the software version V10e-234-10.

Great post from OP - many thanks!
Probably loads of useful stuff inbetween but don't have time to read 9 pages just yet!

I only signed up to offer a tip on LG Bridge, so only my second post.

My observations on MM is mwaaaah for most things but I would have paid good money just to separate the volume for ring tones and notifications, so I absolutely love it - maybe I'm strange?

Well, I have to say, I'm back on Lollipop (and the Marshmallow update isn't showing up I should add).

Marshmallow was going pretty swell for me until the phone started acting up. Sometimes I would double-tap the screen and the phone would wake up to a black screen. I could see the screen turning on but nothing in it. This became a nightmare in the past 2 weeks and I didn't find any logical explanation for it. So I'm assuming that it's Doze that's conflicting with the software so I rolled back.

Of course, if this behaviour comes back with the phone back on Lollipop I'm sending the phone to LG.
Quite honestly it has been a pretty disappointing experience. The camera is awesome, but I'm not sure I'll want to put up with this sort of software problems. I'm already putting up with the extreme size of the phone - which I hate - and with the lack of dedicated camera buttons and the back buttons and speaker which are anything but practical. If now I have to keep resetting the software, I'm getting rid of the phone.
It's really annoying as I've never had any reasons to complain about LG and I live pretty much surrounded by LG products, from air conditioners to 4K TVs to PC monitors.

Anybody with H815 V10B EUR in the US gotten the Marshmallow update. I keep checking on the LG bridge.

The battery does go back to normal after a week or so.

But I can't test it now because my G4 just took a dump and fell victim to the bootloop issue.

So I'll attempt to get a replacement under warranty.

Sorry to hear! Did you have the H815 or a carrier version?

Mine didn't but I did have to roll back to Lollipop because the screen wouldn't turn on at times (or better, it would but it would turn on to black).
Back on Lollipop I have to say that the battery life WAS indeed worse on Marshmallow. I have pretty steady routines when it comes to phone usage and I noticed battery would drain much faster on 6.0

I am in the UK with H815 and got my update in December using the Bridge.

Generally it feel's a lot more responsive in some cases but:

  • Battery can plummet some days.
  • top 3rd of the phone can get very hot.
  • It asks for permissions for EVERYTHING including every time i connect it (on a dock) to my PC which is annoying and I can't find a way of setting a default option.

That's a bummer, but glad you can get replacement. Will it take long to get it? Do you have something to fill the gap?

It'll take a long while. Don't know when.

And yeah, I have this to serve as my backup phone. (Initially an iPhone 4S but can't stand that display)

And yes, it's running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. No, it's not a screenshot from a Nexus.

How did you roll back to Lollipop? Thanks.

Over a month and MM is still worst then LP on battery life and snooze doesn't work all the time

Still no MM update here in Asia. (Singapore)

Thought i was getting it when i noticed a file is being downloaded. But when i saw the file size (400 mb) turns out its just a minor update.
