LG G6 a flop? Low sales?

There are G4 and G5 users out there who will most likely move to the G6 or the soon to be announced V30 within the next year.

I know several G4 users and former users most will never buy another LG phone. One of my coworkers has been through 2 boot loop G4s.

G5 users are positive. V20 seems great, I may still get one if I can get a used one if I get a great deal.

My wife rather enjoyed the G4 until the bootloops. And the same with the replacement.

I forgot to say guys, you know what's one of my greatest features on G6, you can listen up music while taking photos. And that's dope for me. Like on my G3 i listen to music, see something cool went to take, a photo of it and the phone just bit*h slap me saying you won't listen to music while doing it and i was like NOOOOOOO, YOU NO DO DIS. 😂😂😂

I agree...this is cool...thanks for the heads-up.

While there is a lot about Samsung I'm not really a fan of, these were dynamite.

Samsung commercials were awesome back in the day... Didn't make me want to buy one personally but they were great commercials... What got me is they targeted iPhone users solely and mentioned the iPhone but nowadays if a phone company even hints at another phone manufacturer ppl whine and say it's childish and petty

They did a great job of highlighting what their phone could do feature wise that the iPhone at the time couldn't. I didn't buy a Galaxy, but that was the key thing to get enough people curious to try to seeing the feature in the ad worked as well in real life.

But you can't say that the LG didn't make awesome job with the Goldberg commercial idk who saw it. Back in the days S3 is only galaxy device i actually like. That phone was unbreakable in every way.

I haven't had it either last samsung phone i had was back in 06 hahaha.. But that S3 still works today with custom roms perfectly... But honestly idk why on g6 forum we even discuse other manufacturers...

Perhaps I'm being too hard on LG, but this is a safe commercial. Reminds me of many car commercials actually. It's not bad, but if this is the main commercial, then it's an issue.

At least with the old Samsung commercials, they were memorable because they took a real life scenario - best was people waiting in line for the new iPhone - to pull people in, then used the time to showcase a feature or two off their phone than the competition didn't have in a way that was eye catching.

Not saying LG has to do the same thing, but if I think like an average consumer, I didn't see anything in that LG commercial that would push me to buy the G6. All I learned was it looks to be a very tough phone. Tech enthusiasts sometimes overvalue what's important to them and underestimate what matters to the average consumer.

Plus, I don't see the issue with talking about another OEM on a LG thread. LG has some mindshare issues in some markets. And without a clearly identified strategy, it doesn't matter the hardware - their products won't sell in the way they expect.

Yeah but those are payed actors.. I mean i know that in usa ur bombed by tons of commercials. But idk whats the last thing i bought after seeing it on tv or bildboard. Like i ***** converse shoes my whole life and i have never seen a converse commercial on tv or bildboard here in my country. And almost every second person has them. And thats like for everything i have a samsung tv that probably doesn't have it's on commercial. Simply because something os advertising it doesn't mean it's good. I bought G6 after seeing tons of reviews people who used it hands on. Not commercial. I mean for ex. i saw lots of beats commercial and i don't think there is bigger cra*p headphones you can buy on market. I mean chosing that over some sennheisers, audio tehnica and something. And yet never saw sennheiser commercial and for people who are audiophiles they know excatly what is beats compared to sennheiser.

See, a marketing strategy is more than just running ads on TV.

Example, Samsung runs its TV ads. They've also done ads on YouTube faturing clips of YouTubers reviewing their devices (did this for the S8 and S8+ this year). I'm sure there are other forms of media they use. Product placement in stores. Product placement in movies, TV shows. I just don't think people are aware of how many other components exist in a targeted market strategy (in sure there's other stuff I haven't listed).

To take the Converse and Lamborghini examples before, you do realize that these companies didn't roll out of bed one day and achieved iconic status where they don't have to run a ton of ads for their target audience? You see Converse placed in media already (movies, TV shows, music videos). People know about Lamborghinis from movies and other mainstream media things. People who know a brand well can always tell more details, but when a brand is iconic is when an average consumer can state the name of the brand and their product.

I can argue the last phone LG had with that much iconic status was the LG Chocolate. I grew up when this phone was a thing where little kids were clamoring for the Chocolate phone. As I mentioned before - the G6 is a very good phone. But with other OEMs making good phones, LG needs to find a way to rent mindshare in people.

Honestly not surprised by the low sales. Imo, LG released an okay phone with outdated specs, saved their best features for other country exclusives, it came on the heels of terrible boot loop issues. and their marketing was abysmal.

Samsung hoarded the 835 at the time and the 821 is not really outdated.

Lol.

i work in audio and I work with high quality files all day. This is ultimately why I'm not sad about losing the Quad DAC because I know that mp3 files and ESPECIALLY streaming will never use the extent of what the DAC can accomplish.. Now if I were listening to lossless files that would be different, but I don't carry those with my on my phone. But I will say this, even with mp3s and streaming, the DAC did make it sound better.. whether it was simply a filter that was activated or what.. but not enough for me to fight about..
It's no deal breaker but I have to admit, I do miss the audio on my HTC 10.

Why is the smartphone market a duopoly? Why can’t there be healthy competition between all manufacturers like in the car, TV, and PC industries?
People could always choose to not support the duopoly, by not buying Apple or Samsung phones. That is what I do.

I will say this, while i have the lg g6, but LG should be punished with low sales for making a dumb decision to moit all the fetures that Korean market got. That was super dumb and i have no faith in a company that is capable of such decisions

This past weekend I was considering upgrading from my current Galaxy S7 to a LG G6 using the AT&T NEXT program. I stopped by Best Buy to check out the G6 in person but didn't see any out on display. I asked the Best Buy clerk and he said he had one behind the desk which he brought out to me. The phone's battery was dead, so he said he would need to charge it a while before I could try it out (while he stood next to me since the phone wasn't tethered by a cable). I told him no thanks, and walked over to the nearby AT&T corporate store.

The AT&T store did have one on display, but the selling price was $720 which was the full list price. I asked about the $585 price that I saw on the ATT website, and the rep told me that was the online price and not the store price. Huge difference, so I decided not to do the impulse upgrade.

I went over to Costco and all they had on display were Samsung S8s and iPhones. No LGs.

In the end I was thinking this experience is definitely a contributor to the LG low sales.

Of course it's a contributing factor. I have to admit Verizon is better with LGs than Best Buy at putting LGs on display but Samsung clearly gets the prime location even over Iphone.
