I'm running grom 2.2. In. I'm using wifi tethering version 3.1 beta 11. My pc can connect to the hotspot access point but there is no data transmission. I've tried adhoc mode and softap mode. Any suggestions? Thanks.

1st - Upgrade your ROM.. gROM is unsupported and dead I think...

Check to see if there are any errors in the app.. Push the menu key and find the log.. or status.. Make sure nothing there says "FAILED".

Next, check to be sure YOU have an Internet connection... #*#*4636*#*# in dialer.. Phone Information > RUN PING TEST. Make sure all three things there say Pass.

If they say failed there, you might not have a Internet connection. Go to browser and load up Google to be sure..

If you don't have an Internet connection, try rebooting and toggling airplane mode/mobile data to get one.. Check your APNs by going to Voice Dialer and saying "Open APNs"..

That should fix you!

Please hit the Thanks button if it helped.

Ok. I'm a novice. I could use detailed instructions for running a ping test. Grom will not update. If I wanted to flash a new rom which one would you suggest? Any more details you may have for me would be great. Thanks.

I would suggest for an updated rom either Kraven's CM7 or if your really adventurous go for the COLD AS ICE Alpha5, I haven't tried the personal hotspot feature yet on CM9 though.

Both those roms suggested are not support on the same baseband you are running with gRom. I would suggest either yourMomRom or hydroRom as they are both on the zvh baseband. That being said, there are known issues for some optiS phones with tethering on that baseband. Thekravens's cm7 is on zvd baseband and is likely the most supported and bug free rom for our phones, but again you would have to revert to the right baseband for it to work. All other supported roms are alpha and beta stage roms (still issues with stability or feature issues). Let us know if you have any other questions.

I followed your instructions regarding the apns. Didn't do anything. I have 3g service, otherwise i wouldn't be able to access the internet, right? My phone info shows my baseband version as ls670mvh_6150 and the sw version is ls670zvh. Just to clarify, is my baseband version currently zvh? Step by step how do I switch to zvd so I can use cm9. I currently us xionia recovery and I think I can handle flashing the new rom. I just don't want to run into any major problems when it comes to changing my baseband version. Thanks.

Thanks. I think I'm going to try hyrdorom first. If that doesn't fix the tethering issue then I will unroot to change my baseband and go with cm7.

I followed the instructions to the letter. I'm at step 4. my phone has rebooted but i have error messages that say "sorry! the application mvpdm (process.com.hp.mvpdm) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.", "the application clock has stopped unexpectedly..", "..android.process.acore has stopped.." what do these messages mean? Are they important? i forced close on all three. The screen says please wait while we set up device services but the acore message keeps popping up.

i rebooted in recovery mode, did a data wipe and rebooted the phone. No more error messages, just stuck at "please wait while we configure your device and services."
