Lg optimus s tethering problem

i rebooted in recovery mode, did a data wipe and rebooted the phone. No more error messages, just stuck at "please wait while we configure your device and services."

Do you have weak/no signal? If not, boot back into recovery and re flash the update.zip. Boot back into android, dont worry about signing into accounts as you are going to flash a rom once you are re rooted. Give it a few minutes then boot back into recovery (power off, then hold volume down, home, and power buttons to get to recovery) and wipe data. Boot into android and let it fully boot. Go to settings - applications - development - and check debugging mode. Verify that cell calls, data, gps ect all work before proceeding. Assuming all works as expected, you are ready to root, install xionia (I recommend the automated root tool inn the stickies as it will do both very easily for you) then create a nandroid backup. At that point you are ready to flash a rom!

i think the problem is 3g service. I'm actually sure it is. Just ran ping and I have no connection. However, it does show the 3g icon. Any help with this? Btw I just saw your last post. I rebooted in recovery and reinstalled update.

okay, so after I root i want to update the prl and profile? you're saying that i want a back up of the rooted software, not stock. correct?

Update: tethering still not working I checked the apns and have them set exactly as described

for the us cellular settings in apn

Ping test states

Ping IpAddr Fail: IP addr not reachable
Ping Hostname(www.google.com): Fail: Host unreachable
Http Client test: Pass

I like this rom but I still can't tether on the phone.
