To be honest they won't ever give you a real answer. Until Verizon claims an actual stance most reps are just guessing or grasping at ideas they have. I highly doubt Verizon tells them why they disabled certain things.

Verizon definitely disables it through their software or at least that is what they have done in the past with certain phones after release and an update. They have also added the feature back into some phones after release.

Pretty much. Verizon just does what they want. I wouldn't be surprised if the real reason was for more data use -- but they'd never admit that since they'd get into some hot water. I especially question it since Sprint has it on and runs CDMA like Verizon so network "issues" are out of the question. All in all though def. not new for them. They have a great network but sometimes they seem to use that as a crutch for "we can do w/e we want" type of thought process.

Actually, to get this far, I had to contact Roy Chestnutt, their Executive VP & Chief Strategy Officer, and file an informal FCC complaint... :-( It's not like I haven't been trying... so frustrating!

Actually, to get this far, I had to contact Roy Chestnutt, their Executive VP & Chief Strategy Officer, and file an informal FCC complaint... :-( It's not like I haven't been trying... so frustrating!

Actually, I believe some of their people know the answer... maybe an answer they can get in trouble for, because since the first big lawsuit about Bluetooth removal from a Blackberry device, the "workaround" here in the US is for manufacturers to call nearly everything a phone can do a FEATURE and let the carriers buy into it... or not. A really sleazy process for the USA to allow, IMO.

I have an LG G4 and am now going to follow this thread because I so want you to be able to find some answers. I'm tired of Verizon disabling features I'd like to have on my phone. The Verizon G4 is missing features that are present on unlocked versions of this phone. Smart settings, theming and FM radio. Oh as well as 60 fps video recording.

In the end, it is all about the money for Verizon to disable features. No matter what they try and tell you.

Quick update. Verizon executive relations has okayed the return of my phone even though I am well past the 14 days

I have just ordered the unlocked version from B&H.

Since I didn't pay sales tax, I treated myself to overnight delivery so I should have it tomorrow

I will update this thread. I also started a new Thread about trying The unlocked version and taking it to Verizon. I will also update that thread with the info on Smart settings and Google in apps search.

My gut feeling is that all 3 of them are going to work I'd be happy for one or two out of three at this point but I'm hoping for all 3...

Thank you , actually I am a fighter... 20 + years ago, I got a lemon from Chrysler Motors and took them on and actually wound up winning a small amount. I wasn't after a big amount, I just wanted them to fix my stupid car!

Anyway, what really bothers me about this is that I am in the customer service business myself!

I have a small business, a Trout Fishing Resort on the White River. If I was to take such an, "I don't give a darn, you will take what I give you and you will be happy about it!" attitude with my customers, I would be out of business tomorrow!

I would never treat my customers like this...

I have the US unlocked version LG-US996 but doesn't have access to the FM tuner... not sure why, a little disappointed. Though I have a little Moto E 2nd Gen that has it already, that should do for now.

yes... although interestingly enough, when the phone was released, it did not... then it was magically enabled one day... perhaps it was people complaining?

Correct, they enabled FM in a Sept OTA update. I'm quite sure it was a result of complaints. The problem is, probably far more complaints, and owners, from the S7edge compared to V20.

Hey, Marco! Yeah, me too!

Package was supposed to arrive yesterday; sent Fedex Priority Overnight on Thursday. I did that because 1.) I'm impatient and since I didn't have sales tax, I treated myself and 2.) the offer for the free earphones (that I really want) is over 11/20. The package seems to have been lost in Newark, NJ for about 16 hours and is now in Memphis, TN as of 6 am today, with NO scheduled Delivery date at this time... So, I don't know if they'll try to deliver today or not.

If they deliver today, fine. I'll activate it and let you know!

If they don't deliver until Monday? I'm going to reject the package and let them ship it back to B&H. If you've figured anything out about me by now, it is Give Me What I Pay For... All Of It...

If I can't get the earphones, the deal is off... and I will just look at this final incident as the universe telling me this is not the phone for me... If that happens, I'll just ride my Super Sexy Silver Sizzler Galaxy Note 7 until they block my IMEI.

Just FYI, LG always rolls out new freebies once the current promotion ends. So on the 21st its likely going to be a free battery and charging cradle, or the $100 amex gift card they did earlier this year.
Personally I would hope its the $100 amex card over the headphones.
